In other articles I see the "expertsâ€￾ are saying what I have been saying---"It doesn't Matter" U is all but finished.

Shame of it is, it was a great job at one time. Life goes on. . . . . .

Party at the Seashell Lounge! Love it! Best wishes to Aerosmith and the rest who are moving on to healthier pastures.

I do feel for most of the mechanic furloughees on an individual basis but I still feel that when the outstations were downsized and closed several years back now, PIT mechanics did thier share of unlimited overtime to pick up the slack. Now that its thier turn in the line they'll wish that they were looking for a job in a city without hundreds of unemployed A+P's in the job market. I still though would highly recommend you leave the industry as I have. The public doesn't deserve you any more. I love to tell people that I don't work for the airlines any more and that I'm making more money selling them ####. They love it, that's the mentality out there! P.S. - Your also welcome for me leaving and saveing someones job in PIT for the last five years.

talks cheap dude, everybody who has left U has been to the mountain...prove it...
guess you're laughing all the way to the bank... .

Look dude - I took a cut for a few years, but as you know the airline has been going backwards for years and other industries continue to move forward. I do know that every ex-mechanic won't be as fortunate as I have been, It is starting over and they have the same odds as someone just starting. After years of the doom and gloom from almost everyone in life, I would like to say that there is hope to excell after US. Believe me, it's not easy, but it's possible.

i hear you but everyone comes on here with peaches and cream and i know firsthand it ain't that rosey out there...if you have done good ,praise to you...but more often than not we get these touchy feely reports how they're just bringing in boat loads of cash and blah blah blah....maybe for some but like i said...right.....
have a nice day and good luck to you.... 😉

Actually I “couldâ€￾ bring home boatloads even more than I did at U...BUT BUT need to work 24/7 to do it....What amazes me is there are actually a few guys that do just that, work 7 12's year round...when does one live their life? I work some OT but I will never be a 7 dayer. In Pit if you don't have a college degree or some highly needed scarce skill, then this is one if the better places to be. Almost everyone there came from a U type job that has since disappeared and when comparing notes with the guys makes you realize just how many good paying jobs are gone, and gone for good.

So dude, you are correct, no peaches and cream from my view.....no way in hell

As in my first reply to this post, the writing was on the wall years ago when the out stations got screwed. PIT mechanics should have started college or something back then instead of soaking up the OT! Even though I am doing well in my new career, I am continuously prepareing for my next job. That's what I learned from my airline spanking. By the way, I would have loved to moved to PIT for what should have been the ultimate career, but my gut told me to steer clear when I could see no solidarity company wide. I knew then that in the airline game city would be played against city to keep airline labor at bay. I do believe, hard as it may seem, that we all will better off in the long run without the airline sickness. USair has fed on it's own and now deserves the result. Any one left at Usair knows in their gut that they are part of a discusting company and that they are the losers, not the people who have moved on. Congradulations, your free, make the most of it, and good luck always.

Well written, powerful and absolutely true!

I too started looking beyond U very seriously the day after they closed the jet shop in pit because as you stated, the writing was not only on the walls but vibrating loudly everywhere you turned to where the brain dead would miss the cues. Staying and hoping for the impossible promotes mental illness.

you guys are both on the mark.i have serious doubts too as to the future for U...in particular go read the thread about the guy( ETOPS1) little chit chat with brucie....if that don't open your eyes nothing will....

Working for USair was like being a drug addict. Some of us quick to rehab have had a good success rate. Others will find it harder. Those still left will go cold turkey. Posting on this board is part of a continueing therapy on worker abuse, telling others of the road ahead assuring them that at least their not alone. USair is a pig with lipstick!
