Prognostications on the Airways Brand

So when all is said and done, what do you think will happen to the US Airways brand and name?

Is it possible that the name would be relegated to a new wholly-owned company alongside PSA and Piedmont?

Will AA even be concerned about protecting the name?

Will it be left unprotected and then resurrected by a group of investors after it is available in the public domain?

Will AA paint a legacy 319 in any of the US Air/US Airways liveries?

there is suppose to be a USAirways plane painted in the current scheme  just like the HP and the other painted planes.    US brand will disappear in due time   Doubt AA will try to protect it  but stranger things have occurred before.    Piedmont (EN) and PSA will continue to be the commuter airlines flying alongside Envoy for the wholly owned (though not sure if Envoy is wholly owned or not)

Remember People Express?  They are coming back with the same name.  Never say never...

US has had a history of keeping the names of the former airlines that were merged so no one else can use the name, and Doug has done the same, and the legacy jets are proof of that.

PI, PS, HP and AL.

What is the track record for new entrants, or even revived companies, e.g. Eastern, becoming successful using names of previous carriers?  Braniff?  Pan Am?  The only one I can think of that has hung on (by the skin of their teeth) for any appreciable time is Frontier.

This actually came about as a result of the Mohawk name being put back to use in the early 90's. It wasn't until after that took place that US decided to protect the other brands by using them on the W/O Express carrier's.

USAIR saw the necessity to protect there merged carriers brand because of the inherent value these brands portrayed. everything from public perception, to wall strreet respect. brought on due to the employees and management working together for a better day. the employees were considered well paid (not the highest, but happy along with the good workin conditions. the management knew they could think outside the box for market share and profits and the employees would step up to the challenge. usually with a extra stipend somewhere down the road for a JOB WELL DONE!!
usaIRWAys on the other hand, took pride in denegrating these once proud carriers names. lappin them on the sides of there fee for departure carriers that they paid substandard wages to, and got what they paid for.
USAIRways has nothing to worry about, they way the employees were treated, the way the passengers were treated, .......
naaa, no worries about resurecting this brand.

let id dye, only a bussines school drop out would even try to resurect an airline that litterall prided itself in how many passengers, employees, etc it could treat poorly....Resurest USAIRways.....LMFAO.........

They're already back, but there's little in common with the original iteration other than the branding...

I suspect Airways will cease to exist completely, and hopefully taking all of the baggage associated with the name along with it.
