Heard Buf already cut over and not by THIER CHOICE!

Morons in the front office have no CLUE to do this 1 week BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

Oh well- Happy WAITING IN LOONNG LINES!!!!

Why should this be any dif then the past!

Sabre will still be there and you can toggle back and forth

Perhaps the Easties need to tell the Westies just how well the Pacer/Sabre transition went.

Not that Tempe would ever change it's mind.

I was part of the Pacer/Sabre transition and this transition should be absolutely nothing like that one. When the Sabre cutover happened the switch was thrown one night and Pacer was gone and Sabre was in its's place and it was sink or swim. Granted, that was awful. But this time the company has done it totally different. Both computer systems are running side by side and the ability to toggle back and forth between them is there. This was done so that after someone goes to class for Qik/Sabre and come out on the floor they can practice using the program before they actually HAVE to. But some folks have been out of class for 2 months and have not even touched the new program. If they don't know it at cutover...it's their fault. The company is not to blame. They've done it right this time.

My point was that the Pacer/Sabre change was made a million times worse because it was done right before Thanksgiving, instead of waiting until after the holidays.

You know that no matter what training was given, there will be plenty of problems with the Sabre/Shares cutover, even if it's "not the company's fault". But there's no reason to magnify those problems by making the switch right before Christmas--that certainly would be the company's fault, and they can't say they didn't already have an example to learn from.

I think perhaps you got your information mixed up...complete cutover to SHARES will not take place till March. In the meantime, we are all supposed to be using QIK on Sabre in the interim. Although, QIK on SABRE has not been performing very well lately. Lots of BUSY and TIMEOUT moments. I LOVE IT, especially when we have a line out the friggin' door! 🙄 It's not handling TIPS reissues very well either..got a couple of vouchers? FORGET IT...you can't get to the follow up mask..I've sent a FIX IT message and others have called and we have been been told these types of reissues are not functioning...toggle to NATIVE SABRE! Well that's just great...what's going to happen when we can no longer toggle to NATIVE SABRE? I'd say probably a good 90% of people come out to the airport to get a ticket, BECAUSE they have some sort of PAPER document in hand...I realize they didn't want to spend alot of time and money programing the QIK on Sabre interface, BUT at the airport, these types of reissues are done on a regular basis and this is very frustrating when it doesn't work!

You are right about cutover it is estimated around March but there are some managers in a hurry to cut off saber in just their station just to become heroes

There will still be a big learning curve when we loose saber all together and go to shares entirely. Saber is operating in the back ground when US/EAST is using shares. Using just shares is going to be challenge number 2

It's true that full cutover to Shares will not be until March...but my point was that some folks who have had plenty of time to learn QIK/Sabre have not even made the effort to try the system even though they have been to class. There will be differences between Qik/Sabre and QIK/Shares...but at least if agents would try to learn how to operate QIK they would be ahead of the game. Even if Sabreview (native Sabre) is cut off in a station now (not permanently gone, just not visable) some agents would not be able to get a flight out. If they've been to class and have not tried to use QIK...it's their fault.

Slightly off topic.

Is Tempe aware that there are "free" solutions that are much more robust than "Shares"? Why "Shares", rated by Cnet in the bottom third?

Seeing as how most anything is better than "Shares", who is getting a kick-back on this deal.....dougie?

They are in short a management team that knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Piney,
Right on. Ultimately that will lead to their downfall. "If" they merge with Delta do you honestly think a punk like Travis is going to run the marketing? I doubt it. The one thing that may ultimately save US Airways is to get some seasoned Delta managers that know what marketing is. But, THAT isn't going to happen.

What would be the motivation to cut to 'seam less' service at the busiest time of the year? To impress people? Make their travel experience a smooth and enjoyable one?
I cannot see any benefit to doing this at this time. Long lines with minimum staffing will impress people alright, as their holidays get screwed up. LCC will once again appear in the press again, ala sabre cutover ,it may impact profit sharing and perhaps approval for the Delta merger.
I for one have a dream of having the person directly responsible for this descision standing at the end of the ticket counter so I can point him or her out when the populace is screaming at me for ruining their life again. It would create another line however.
It makes about as much sense as closing a lane on the freeway at rush hour.
What's the motivation behind it?

Nope, I did not misunderstand-our station, will be in full use Dec 18th!

As a matter of fact, going to trng this week have not gotten our per diem yet!

Checks were still sitting on mgrs desk to be sent to hqtrs!

Oh lets hurry hurry and get the agents to trng, we'll give them their per diem when they come back!
That's DEAD WRONG!

You knew a month ago some agents were headed to CLT , pay out of their own pockets and collect when you get back!

Calling my union-when ever I asked the spvr ,the story I get is it's been sent!
BuLL$h!^!

JMHO...(based on over 20 years in the Information Technology field)

Sending people to training this week for a production cutover next week is a recipe for disaster. Particularly coupled with the suggestions that the new system is not working "up to snuff" yet. Good luck!
