Quarter 2 Profit - $306 Million

I think what Horton is missing is that the global economy is heading into the toilet and down the drain. The time to do this, if he's going to do it with any airline not just US is now, not later. 2013 will be tough... 2014 will be even very tougher still.
I'm not sure I agree with your assertion that the "global economy is heading into the toilet and down the drain."

But even if it is heading into the toilet, then why does that support the need to merge RIGHT NOW and not later? Why would a worsening economy make it "tough" to merge in 2013? Or "even tougher still" in 2014? I just don't understand the connection between the worsening global economy in the next two years and increasing difficulty of merging US and AA in the next two years.

I think comments about seeing a slight drop in bookings and expected decrease in revenue growth may have spooked some.

Geeee, ya think? Brilliant observation.

You should be a pundit their F/O Obvious.

Kinda grumpy today uhaul. What happened, load up on a bunch of LCC stock lately?

BTW, the Nov bid is out. Oh, wait, you're not on it!

I'm in a great mood hairy Pi but that doesn't mean I can't point out your stupidity.

And who buys airline stock? Not me? How about you?

You know what else I'm not on? LOA 93.

So who points out YOUR stupidity? Go hijack another thread boy genius.

I'll start with you since you behave like one.

Wonder what the full year numbers will look like?
Ah, yes. Someone who writes:

"[background=rgb(235, 235, 235)]It's like when my Junkie Ex's 14yr old got arrested for breaking into a house. Cops brought him home and I said "You know I don't know which is worse, you breaking..."[/background]

makes you qualified to judge others?

Give it a rest Piney.

Unless I missed it, would it state how much revenue was produced from ancillary fees?

My guess is based upon prior analysis is ancillary revenue accounted for 100% of the profit.

They can make the numbers say whatever they want them to...if the actual profits are that great, then it's time to get FAIR contracts with labor and dump some of the ancillary fees which are driving customers nuts.

Still, good job by all in the field! I credit you, not Tempe for the excellent results.
Agreed good job by all in the field. No credit to Tempe. Their focus the past year or so has been AA. IMO... fair contracts for any labor group on US property won't be realized until DP's obsession with AA is put to bed. His focus has been centered on labor groups who aren't on his property but AAs.

someone asked that on the earnings conference call and Kerr said $154 million, which is on the low side since just checked bag charges were supposed to be about $500 milliion/year when they were announced. I'm not sure if it's broken out in the 10K - I haven't had a chance to go through it.

Quite a sad commentary on your CEO. Some of us wish he would turn his attention back to you too.
