what's interesting is that all the profits came from the US Airways side ("East") whereas the AWA side ("West") actually reported losses:

AWA:
Operating revenues: $902 million
Operating Expenses: $927 million
Operating Loss: $25 million
Net Loss: $8 million

US Airways:
Operating Revenues: $2.3 billion
Operating Expenses: $1.96 billion
Operating Income: $320 million
Net Income: $179 million

The east arrogance was a problem going into this merger and remains your crutch today. I'd take NWA over old US in a micro second. They are in desperate need of replacement aircraft though.

The West is making a good case to sell off it's side of the operations since they are the weak link in the profit chain.

Hopefully they will sell off the West to NWA. You know the saying "cut our (West) losses and move on"
