FYI - KNOW YOUR CONTRACT!!! Especially sections 11 and section 10. take it from someone who has been on the bottom for nearly the last 3 yrs. Take a highlighter to the contract and know your rights. Scheduling will tell you anything when they are desperate. Ask to speak to a scheduling supervisor if you question what a scheduler is telling you it's ok to do something you DON'T want to do. And then call your UNION REPS!!!

I know it usually takes a few times of getting hosed before you learn, but be proactive...

Good luck

I second the cliffs' notes version. If you have tips for us please post it!!!

seriously guys typical things.... remember your 30/7....actual flying time.. no deadheads.. that can come in handy.... they cannot take away INV days.. only off..... they CAN take away your ETB if needed.. and that will really piss you off. Wait your 15 min to call back.... Split to your advantage... in base, out of base on east coast, any station on east coast, any station.... know the new ruling with the rest after your trip.... they can call @ 830, but you dont have to answer.... if you do, that trip is yours.... know that if OPR's are on duty or scheduled to be on duty within 1 hr of the trip departing, it goes to them and not a quick call.

READ THE CONTRACT AND HIGHLIGHT IT..... reference it... and take the 15 min call back time to decipher it.

I don't know anything about splitting can anyone explain it to me??

"know that if OPR's are on duty or scheduled to be on duty within 1 hr of the trip departing, it goes to them and not a quick call."

ACTUALLY ITS 2 HOURS FROM DEPARTURE AND THEN IT GOES TO OPR'S. THEN TO VOL QUICK CALL FAS, THEN ASSIGNED INVERSE ORDER.

Yes, you are correct.... section 11-12 E 1 & 1 a thanks

Whew, there are a lot of ways to split on or off a trip. You can split off a trip for days off if they have adequate coverage otherwise it's inv days. You can split trips to maximize your time...just keep in mind, that you can't recalculate rigs.

Go to chapter 10-13 of your fa contract. And 11-6. 🙂

This is all one has to know what is wrong with unions and this industry, good grief!

A good note, if you get assigned OPR, make sure you check to make sure they mark it in catcrew. It will either come up as REM or ASQ. Remarks are option 33 to check. You can only be assigned 2 times a month and MUST be legal for 3 days and 18 hours to be assigned it. That comes in handy a lot if you have over 12 hours in the previous 4 days you will not have to do OPR.
Also, last summer they called flight attendants and told them to head to the airport, an International flight might be returning. DO NOT go to the airport without a trip. They tried that a few times with me last summer.
Remember international rest is 16 hours prior to and following any Transatlantic trip at your option. Note, this is not uninterrupted rest, but 16 hours block to block before and after. Last summer I came in from a redeye and they tried to assign me a TA trip that night, but I requested 16 hrs and they moved on.
I know I am here to help anyone in their transition back to the line. Good luck out there!

Stupid FAs; they’re running US right into the crapper by following the Contract the company agreed to!

No stupid rul;es, why would anyone want to have to know and worry abotu so many details? Why can 80% of Americians get by just fine without ecery detailed being spelled out. And it is not like any of this is any real protection or any real great benefit, it is just all a big game and you guys pay for it.

Are you kidding me? I just cannot understand the logic in ANYTHING you say on here. I guess it's the f/a's and their union that make these stupid rules. I guess the company doesn't have a say in the whacked out rules that we have. Let me tell ya I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE boarding and deplaning for FREE. I also get a real kick out of cleaning for free. I bet our brothers and sisters out west get off on being tagged too. You are incredible and I'll say no more as to not get tossed to the field. What I really wanna say is.....sa;oototislkaroiawjt figure it out. 😉 oops i let the cat walk across the keyboard. 🙄
