Recalled Reserves - Listen Up!

No stupid rul;es, why would anyone want to have to know and worry abotu so many details? Why can 80% of Americians get by just fine without ecery detailed being spelled out. And it is not like any of this is any real protection or any real great benefit, it is just all a big game and you guys pay for it.
This is the STUPIDEST thing I have EVER seen posted on Usaviation!!!

Yes, you are correct.... section 11-12 E 1 & 1 a thanks

"know that if OPR's are on duty or scheduled to be on duty within 1 hr of the trip departing, it goes to them and not a quick call."

ACTUALLY ITS 2 HOURS FROM DEPARTURE AND THEN IT GOES TO OPR'S. THEN TO VOL QUICK CALL FAS, THEN ASSIGNED INVERSE ORDER.
Actually
Quick calls are 90 minutes "to the airport"; not the gate, not security, nor check in. If it took you 88 minutes to make it to the airport as you pull into the parking lot call them and tell them "you are at the airport". If they want to check (believe me) they can call and find out when you wanded your parking pass to enter the parking lot. If it takes you another 15minutes to get into the airport, oh well. Call them again and tell them "I am now at TSA".
It might take another 15 minutes to get thru security and another 10 to get to the gate.
Bottom line,
know the verbiage in your contract.

Are you kidding me? I just cannot understand the logic in ANYTHING you say on here. I guess it's the f/a's and their union that make these stupid rules. I guess the company doesn't have a say in the whacked out rules that we have. Let me tell ya I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE boarding and deplaning for FREE. I also get a real kick out of cleaning for free.

The company doesn't want these rules either, but because everything is give and take in negotiations they get in there. If the company did want them, why do all of us non-union people not have a billion ridicules rules imposed on us by the company? How can I (and most Americans) go to work everyday having almost no rules, just some basic expectations and be just fine? How is that possible without the great union protection? The funny thing about union folks they scream they need a union to protect them from the evil company, but look around union workers get screwed more then any other work group and I contend it is because they are unionized in the first place!

The company doesn't want these rules either? Hmm if we were non union I bet we'd be working under some REAL simplistic rules. Oh and really HIGH pay. 🙄

many thanks for starting this thread!! it has been really helpful for me, and despite efforts to hijack it by A poster with no interest or knowledge of what is being discussed!!

i am curious about on duty times. it used to be in base at 1500. i have heard that this is no longer the case?

so, for example, suppose i have a block of days off, let's say 5/27, 28 & 29. when do i have to be in base? and, when am i off duty?

also, suppose an "off" day just happens to land on a day you are scheduled for training? will scheduling relocate that "off" day so that you don't lose it?

any feedback would be appreciated!!

I bet our brothers and sisters out west get off on being tagged too. You are incredible and I'll say no more as to not get tossed to the field. What I really wanna say is.....sa;oototislkaroiawjt figure it out. 😉 oops i let the cat walk across the keyboard. 🙄
   Travelpro, LOVE You!!! You used more letters from the keyboard then I would have in responding to the Mgmnt Stooge "UPNDAWAY". I would have cchosen TWO....the SIXTH and the Twentyfirst 🙄 . Hopefully they'll BLOWAWAY.

Oh Astro WHERE have you been? I was about to put out APB on you. 😉

 I've been busy practicing the piano version of "Rhapsody in Blue"......that stunning UAL theme music. 🙄 KIDDING!! These are trying times for not only the airlines but for individuals, their families and the country as a whole. I try to check in occasionally but rarely vent anymore..... many things you couldn't change even IF you wanted to. Time will tell what the future holds for EVERYONE. And as far as the RESERVES.........WELCOME BACK TO ALL THE FURLOUGHS WHO HAVE RETURNED. It has been a pleasure working with many of you. To the "Career Reserves".....God Love YA!

if you have a day of training that is on your day off.. then call and speak to a scheduling supervisor and ask them to move the day off. Quote the contract says we are to be free and clear of duty for 11 days a month.. and when training falls on a day off.. or inv.. they must move the inv day... if they give you crap.. call the union.. if all else fails... call off training on the night before you are scheduled... NEVER give up a day off for this place unless it works for your advantage!

also.. on and off duty occur @ 1201am.
not 1501 as you were probably used too

thanks jbragg476!! if we ever fly together, i'll buy you a beer!!
point of clarification: you do not go off duty until 12:01am? translation: reserve commuters have to give up a lot of off time to commute into base...or so it appears...

Because some people have so little self respect they will do whatever idiotic thing the company asks to keep a job.

TECHNICALLY this is a labor thread and belongs in the AFA topic, but we're going to let this run for a while and see where it goes. I will remind the original poster that he or she TECHNICALLY violated the rules of the boards by starting this thread, but, again, we will let this run another day or so and see where it goes.

I will remind you all that ONLY moderators are permitted to start labor related threads, and there is only to be ONE thread per week per work group. Like it or not those are the rules....

It's up to you all what happens to this thread, so keep the focus narrow and discuss away.....

A reserve's duty day begins and ends @ midnight, it's no longer 1500.

And as far as scheduling your training on an off day you won't get that back if YOU schedule it on that day. They will say you "voluntarily" gave it up. If they are assigning then that's another story. If at all possible wait until your schedule comes out before signing up. If you can't wait then try like hell to get a line where that assigned date will fall on an INV. day. This way you can get it back.

And JB is correct, you are guaranteed 11 days of per month.
So don't give the company the opportunity to say you gave up a day off unless that's what you really meant to do.
