Recalled Reserves - Listen Up!

many thanks for starting this thread!! it has been really helpful for me, and despite efforts to hijack it by A poster with no interest or knowledge of what is being discussed!!

i am curious about on duty times. it used to be in base at 1500. i have heard that this is no longer the case?

so, for example, suppose i have a block of days off, let's say 5/27, 28 & 29. when do i have to be in base? and, when am i off duty?

also, suppose an "off" day just happens to land on a day you are scheduled for training? will scheduling relocate that "off" day so that you don't lose it?

any feedback would be appreciated!!

Things have changed and you go off at 1200 mid and on at 1201A. Many times they release you in the morning on your last day on duty. This is helpful for commuters. If you take you courtesy call at 1500 the day prior, many times they release you until check in. A lot of times they don't. A good thing to know, is that if you leave a list, the computer automatically releases you until check in. I for one always call at 1450 and leave a list with available trips if I happen to check the computer. You do a lot of sitting around on this system as compared to the previous system.
Hope that helps you out!

FYI - KNOW YOUR CONTRACT!!! Especially sections 11 and section 10. take it from someone who has been on the bottom for nearly the last 3 yrs. Take a highlighter to the contract and know your rights. Scheduling will tell you anything when they are desperate. Ask to speak to a scheduling supervisor if you question what a scheduler is telling you it's ok to do something you DON'T want to do. And then call your UNION REPS!!!

I know it usually takes a few times of getting hosed before you learn, but be proactive...

Good luck
Hi All,

I've been a B/H for over 8 years and they still tryi to screw B/H's too! They don't know and play dumb! Then I say, "let me speak to a supervisor" and they have to put one on..

This applies to PHL but not CLT! They have never released me early in the morning since I've transferred to CLT. 9 times out of 10 they won't release me and I end up with a one day systems trip worth 1:34 or assigned into off days. In PHL I almost always got released at 5:15am and sometimes even the day before. I could pretty much count on getting released. It was great!

In LGA I get released anywhere from 1500 to 1900. They pretty much won't release you until after future has assigned.

Agreed about PHL. I almost always am released the Morning before I go Off Duty at Midnight. Only once have they not released me, and it was the end of the month. I hear CLT is like that from a friend of mine who is based there and close to the bottom of the list. They never release and then he gets some crappy trip worth less than 2 hours. Not to mention Quick Called ALL the time.
