Rick Perry - Elect Me...

Like my wife says, he does not suck. I do not care for him and unless Obama really screws up bad I do not see another candidate I would vote for. Hopefully something changes between now and Nov 2012 to give us a real choice but I will not be holding my breath till I have to pull the lever. The I will hold my nose.

Of the three front runners (Perry, Romney, Bachmann), you have Romney being unacceptable to the Tea Party, you have Bachmann being unacceptable to the staunch Republicans, and you have Perry sitting right in the middle and being somewhat acceptable to both groups' core principals/values.

I know it is hard to believe that there might be a candidate that Karl Rove is afraid of, and Perry is it. If Karl Rove doesn't like him, he can't be that bad.

I have a slightly different take.

If the TP like someone the republicans might like them but odds are the moderates won't. If the republicans like them then the TP probably won't but the moderates might. The TP will hold their nose and vote for them because they won't vote for Obama. I thinks it better to poss off the TP than the moderates.

As for Rove. I cannot stand that vile SOB. Having said that, he is a business man who has no loyalty. If he does not like someone it is probably because he does not think they are a good business choice. Ie. Not electable.

I love it when athieist liberals try to explain how social and fiscal conservatives are going to respond to a particular candidate....

The reason Rove hates Perry is because he knows that if Rick winds up as the nominee, Rove's got no chance of being able to be hired in DC for the next 4-8 years....

You seem to have no problem on commenting about us heathen liberals. I was not aware that only conservative religious whack jobs were allowed to comment on things out side their realm of knowledge. My apologies your highness.

Texas AG Sues EPA over Obama’s War on Energy

In an attempt to push back the government overreach that has been killing jobs in the country since Obama’s red-tape machine arrived in DC, Texas has decided to sue the EPA over rules that threaten to shut down coal fired plants.

Texas, under Governor Rick Perry and Attorney General Greg Abbott, has been at the forefront of the 10th Amendment movement seeking to reign in the federal government’s repeated attempts to micromanage, manhandle and mismanage almost every aspect of the citizens’ personal and professional lives.

“The Texas Attorney General’s office ‘will pursue every available legal remedy’ to prevent the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from implementing the new Cross-State Air Pollution rule in the state, office spokeswoman Lauren Bean said,” according to the Fort Worth Star Telegram.

The new rules are designed as a regulatory end run around the states and Congress in order to implement policies that neither the states nor the Congress will approve. Even with a substantial liberal majority in Congress in 2010, Blue Dog Democrats and red-blooded Republicans managed to beat back attempts to impose similar policies under so-called cap-and-trade legislation.

But Obama rarely cares much for the approval of Congress. Once Congress stopped acting as a ways and means committee for him, the president started pursuing a policy of enacting legislation- or scuttling it- by regulatory action, nuisance lawsuits and prosecutorial discretion.

Nice to have a POTUS who shows little respect for the US Constitution. I for one am glad TX is standing up for itself. What's the old saying "Don't mess with Texas". I really wish they had passed the law regarding the TSA and their search techniques. Would have loved to see if Obama, Napalitano and Pistole would have reacted to that. Wonder if they would have carried through on their threats to suspend flights into TX?

Gee. Go figure. Clean air is so over rated. I am sure given the opportunity that the companies would have the peoples best interest at heart .... OH wait, they have had the chance but didn't.

Not the point!

The point is that Obama and his thugs at the EPA have no authority to impose the regulations as defined in the 10th amendment. In fact one could argue that this is an attempt by the Obama Regime to slow down the TX economy in light of the upcoming election and the likelihood that Perry might be the nominee.

Progressive zealots will stoop to the lowest level required, including breaking or circumventing the rule of law to push their agenda! WHY? Because in their heart of hearts they think they're the most enlightened and educated people in the room and how dare anyone question them. Well we the people will be asking the question and you the Progressive will answer or be gone.

Like Dr Paul says, "Liberty is Popular"

I think that is a stretch. EPA has been enforcing air quality for quite some time and there is no case law that I am aware of to support your contention that it is violation of the 10th. I guess there is no harm in trying.

Yet another reason independents and even republicans should be concerned about Perry.

New Apostolic Reformation Army
These new evangelicals are part of the New Apostolic Reformation, an increasingly influential American Christian movement whose leaders consider themselves modern-day prophets and apostles. Many of the organizers for The Response are New Apostles, and the event's official endorser list reads like a roster of virtually everyone important to the movement.

In a article for The Texas Observer, reporter Forest Wilder notes that the New Apostolic Reformation has been quietly expanding on the fringes of Christian fundamentalism since the 1990s. The New Apostles' beliefs — which focus on Christian dominion and End Times — are extreme, even for other conservative Christians.

I do not think Perry will be able to weather the scrutiny he will be getting.

4200 proposed NEW regulations just in the EPA? And you wonder why we don't have jobs?

You think the uncertainty regarding those regs isn't hindering hiring?

These guys aren't environmentalist wacko's they're thugs with the power of the US Government to promote a job killing agenda

If the state elected officials would be more concerned with air quality as opposed to having their pockets lined by the business they are supposed to be regulating then perhaps the fed would not need to step in. I am tired of tasting the air I breath.

Sorry I call BS on this one. I've been to virtually every city in TX except El Paso and I'm sorry but I've never "tasted" the air. So enough with the hype. As to Governors lining their pockets with money from business one need look no further than Tyson Foods and Bill Clinton for exhibit A.

Nice distraction from the fact that the Federal Government is way way over the line on this, just as they are on ObamaCare, another job killer if there ever was one.

Ron Paul is getting ignored more and more by the Liberal & Neo-Con Media as his poll numbers get higher. WHY? Because Liberty is popular and people are waking up to the fact that they've been had by the political establishment and that most government programs don't work. Maybe they'll continue to ignore him during his first term and he can get things done that benefit the average Joe/Jane who draw a paycheck.

Rick Perry is yet another insider running as an outsider who frankly isn't a whole lot better than what we have now due to the corporatist nature of both.

I posted the links. Not my fault if you don't want to read them. TX has filthy air. State government has no interest in cleaning it up or telling the polluters to clean up or shut down.

The election cycle has just started. Paul will be out in short order. As 777 pointed out, when he starts being questioned on getting red f MC, SS and other social programs the people will no be too happy about it.

I still believe out of the current crop Romney will be the last one standing.
