The sick calls were happening in good times as well as now.
I wonder if anyone has figures on maint sick call usage before and since the concessions dropped them to half pay for the first two days. Any difference?
Do other depts have the same 1/2 pay thing, and were there any changes in the usage, before and after?
I guess I am wondering if the new program is saving the company money. It sure costs us, but I end up using more days for each occurance. But, maybe that is good, because every day I am out, I am getting better and not spreading the cold or flu virus to other employees.
Way back when we were paid yearly for not using sick days and were paid in full at retirement, I went years without using any, but often came in very sick, did little, and spread a lot of virus. Now that I am not so young, that would not be an option in any event. I only mention it as an example that incentives work. One supe even gave a man a paid day off if he had not called in sick during the previous 30 days. Boy, Oh Boy did he have low sick calls on his crew.
