What's new

Sorry! No Sympathy Here

I wouldn't go so far to call it a win-win. That implies that the company sees a benefit, and the only benefit you've mentioned is more time off for flight attendants... If you really believe that recalls will make for a happier workgroup, I have some swamp land in New Mexico to sell you.

I do understand the issue of transfers, and renegotiating the size of the bases can be done as a no-cost item, correct?

To Former Moderator;
Curious, what position do you hold at American Airlines? Be specific please.

Before you request that, you should posted your own info. This an open forum not limited to airline emplyees or industry insiders.

FA Mikey:
My 'info' is posted on page 1 of this thread, post #12 :

"I say , as a former TWer, 30 years service, furloughed since Nov 2001, whether recalled or not, I will always care about the flight attendant career.."

Please note that you and I became members of this forum in 2002 within 2 months of one another. That said, I do realize that this forum is not limited to airline personel/industry insiders exclusively.

Therefore, my question to FModeraAAtor, regarding position at AA or otherwise, still remains if s/he chooses to reply.

Not trying to be a jacka$$ or anything, but if you were furloughed in NOv 2001, are your recall rights passed?

I think IOR was asking because if you were furloughed in Nov 01, then you recall rights have unfortunately expired.

I hope that was a typo on your part and that you are STILL on furlough and hope you can come back to the line someday.

No typo on my part-I know exactly when my recall will expire. As a Union member for 30 years, I am well aware of current events and the lack of unity and apathy at APFA.

That said, 1,156 former TWAers 'fell off' the AA Recall list in Oct 2006-wiped off the AA recall books forever. Although there was a loud voice to THB & the APFA membership in rallying for recall extension-the effort was futile. No one really gives a damn unless an issue affects them directly.

In my estimation, many AAers look forward to 2008 when the last of the former TWers are history. "Out of sight, out of mind."
I imagine that many naatives dream is to have new hires in 2008 as opposed to the TWA recall.
New hires- 2 for 1-- cost at the new hire rate.
Woo-hoo!-Have fun training inflight and making wake up calls.

Honestly, I have mixed feelings in 'returning to the line someday with AA.' While I am on furlough, Ill just standby and remain informed & optomistic.

In trying to stay on topic,

Question still stands for Former ModerAAtor:

Since you have been on the BB since 2002, you obviously haven't been paying much attention to this forum!

Wow. I am confused. It seems that true AA employees are so happy to see the last of the TWA people gone. How sad. I have been through a merger or two at US, and DOH has always prevailed, at least for the FA's. Why not at AA? Pride? Indifference? And, absent DOH, why not keep them on an indefinite furlough list, as US did after 9/11? I am confused about the expiration of furlough...... What did AA have to lose?

The furlough language had been in place for years. AA had never had F/A furloughs go beyond five years. I don't think AAPFA really wants it changed, which is a diservice(sp) to members on furlough. They claim AA won't budge on it until Sect. 6 starts up, but other than making lots of noise about it, they never did anything to really make progress on it themselves.

But I thought that was why they all voted for THB. So they could get their unlimited recall. Maybe she wasn't the end all be all.
