What's new

rumor has it...

Before everyone gets all excited at the prospect of Finn being gone remember what my mama has always said...."sometimes the devil you know is better than the one you don't". Just consider who we might get stuck with as his replacement. My guess is, if he is gone, he left of his own accord.

When the managers are so overwhelmingly bottom of the barrel, even Alfred E. Neuman would be a pretty safe bet for "better".

The director of scheduling was shown the door! Arrogant the one time I met him and hates crews. Sure shows how his department was run. Bring back Rob Fuhr at least he was nice with the crews and always fair. So bye Mike! See ya!

It is official. Mr. Finn has seperated from the company. The how and why isn't all that important.

Arrogant for sure, but hating crews? Not really. Keep in mind he is married to an former f/a. I don't agree with the west way of "rule by intimidation". Not everybody is perfect, but I don't find that attitude with east schedulers (yes, there are exceptions).

Hopefully this will get contract talks moving in a more positive direction for both f/a's and pilots.

What does one have to do with the other.

Parker is married to a former f/a. And he shows little fondness for crews.

Maybe getting married to the boss is just one way to get out from under tyrannical, draconian management, and not a reflection on how much the boss "loves" crew members.

Never said he "loves" the crews. But I think saying that he hates them is a bit extreme. Now please...don't get me wrong, I am not trying to defend him or his character, but in his position every crew member that doesn't get what he/she wants is going to be upset. Most of the time it is misplaced anger. (the same is true for just about any member of crew resources who doesn't tell a crew member what s/he wants to hear)

I guess I'm wondering why he was let go and why Tom Chiodo wasn't or is he next? Finn didn't do anything without Chiodo direction. While some may not care why Mike Finn was let go, I have to say I'm curious. Was it because of the lack of progress in contract talks with pilots and FA's? One has to wonder who will be let go next. I'm still amazed that Sherri Shambles is still around. Her level of incompetency is unsurpassed in my book.

I have slammed Sherri up one side and down the other in the past but I'll step to her defense for a minute. The more this circus of an airline unfolded along with their inflight product (if you want to call it that) I believe it to be true that many a decision put out by her was directly handed down from Marketing. Marketing certainly did that with the Envoy product. It was basically, "Here is what you need to serve and what you have to serve it with....Make it work". She being the face of inflight naturally will take the tomatoes and heads of lettuce thrown at her. I'm not saying she hasn't had some input but mostly directed. She isn't stupid. To the contrary she's a pretty smart cookie. Again not shaking pom pom's just giving my opinion. Now that INFLIGHT has control of the product again and NOT MARKETING maybe we'll see change. There is hope. Hell what else do we have at this point?

Chiodo was let go a couple of years ago and Mike was his boss so I don't know about him doing anything without Chiodo direction. And I don't know why he was let go just glad he's GONE! WOO-HOO. As one of his former underlings, I can say without reservation that things in scheduling & crew support services should improve tremendously.
