I have an idea that could be used to address the safety concerns of people who are considering flying NW while the mechanics are on strike.
Strikers, buy surplus parachutes and hand them out to potential NW customers. It'd be a riot!
If the airlines continue to outsource aircraft maintenance then the airlines could have parachutes installed in the overhead bins. Cheap tickets-no problem. Just make sure the people who pack the chutes are not the lowest bidder.
