I for one dont think the TWU sold out. I think they understood what a vote might create. Such as no union at all. That would be a disservice to there members.
From some information I have heard they also felt like they would not win and to not only risk a loss but also a loss for everyone any repesentation. That is not a risk worth taking in todays airline enviorment. So for all of you who may be dissapointed in this decision be greatful we can now move forward and be stronger together. Solidairty as fleet agents is what we need now.

If what you say is true then why even collect the cards in the first place. It certainely appears as though cards were collected in an effort to use this as leverage to achieve whatever goal the TWU had in mind. I don't buy they went through all that trouble and decided..."whoops what are we doing?"

I don't agree with your thoughts at all. I along with many others, feel that the TWU had a very good chance at winning out over the IAM had there been an election. Many on the East side have had it with thier pathetic union, and would take anyone else but the IAM. The TWU would have gotten a majority of the west votes due to the IAM outsourcing issue alone. Everyone from the East that lost thier jobs due to outsourcing, would have voted against them IAM as well. This is a COMPLETE SELLOUT by the TWU, and the west people should be ready to riot over what they have done. I thought the IAM was pathetic, but this takes the cake. The TWU represented have been Screwed so badly, that you may as well lay back and light up a Smoke.. 😱

Okay. So you sign a petition which says you want an election. The last line says that you will vote for the TWU. What kind of petion is that? Your vote is secret.....Unless ur using that last line as a way to count ur votes for $ to present to the IAM as verification of numbers.....

TIME FOR A IBT CARD DRIVE!!!!!!!!!

Look at it this way you can have the IBT in before the iam BS contract is over....LOL

I agree with Henderfuzz, lets work on getting a good transition agreement. It's time to lick your wounds and join as one group. Hopefully the IBT will see the light and do the same as the TWU. Those with the crystal balls evidently are a little fogged up.

Docker tell me what if the IBT never went to your station and you had to look at this iam contract as it is and lets say it was a ibt contract how would you feel about that union????????????? GET A GRIP.
Well i would hide too if that was all i had to give....

DID YOU GET ANY LOVE LUB BEFORE THEY INSERTED.
or give you the broke mountain spit.

Congratulations to the Fleet Service clerks at USAIR, you have been spared the burden of having the TWU as your "bargaining agent". Start filling out your cards for the IBT and who knows, you may have a future in the airline industry.

Hopefully the IBT will win the right to represent the mechaincs at the combined mechanics workforce. The IBT should be a shoo in. The industry leading contracts they negotiated at UPS-where mechanics earn well over $40/hr and SWA, that have industry leading rates for passenger airlines, are only one of the plusses that the IBT has to offer.

The IBT is the only union where airline workers can unite into one union.

As the leaders of unions like the TWU and IAM sit back collecting their six figure salaries and do nothing to protect us, the IBT has admitted that its the leaders fault that labor is in the position its in and they are trying to change. The fact that the AFL-CIO is a bunch of pontificating morons who insist that the decline of the labor movement is the fault of the members and not the leaders is one of the reasons why the IBT bailed out. The fact is the leaders in the AFL-CIO wont do what needs to be done because they personally benifit from things the way they are, even though it has cost the movement dearly.

If the ibt is so great, why were they VOTED OUT at WN?

And UPS outsources all their heavy mtc, they only have around 1,000 mechanics and related.

ibt = outsourcing, HP, CO, UP, and the WN CBA (now AMFA).

Fred Says...just like the TWU...the fix is in with NMB.
