SENATE DEFEATS US AIRWAYS PENSION MEASURE
The Senate on Wednesday evening killed a measure from GOP Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania that would have allowed bankrupt US Airways to string its pension payments out over 30 years.
By a vote of 64 to 31, senators voted to table the Specter measure, a move that likely ends chances for a congressional settlement to US Airways'' pension funding problems.
The Thomas Web site from the Library of Congress (http://thomas.loc.gov) should have the roll call of individual senators available shortly.

This was the correct and fair thing to do. Youcannot encourage underfunding of pension plans otherwise you put all at risk. Savy

Here is the roll call vote on the US Airways pension bill proposed by Specter.

A "yes" vote here is a vote to table the measure -- essentially a vote to kill the bill -- while a "no" vote was a vote to keep the measure alive.
