What's new

Seniority

Considering my particular trade, their's really no truth to hurt - I'm really not even involved in the line/overhaul pissing match. You might check on that before you begin with the assumptions.

My trade allows me many options - does yours?

It doesn't matter what your trade is , if your work ethic sucks then your trade has no value to anyone. I'm afraid the public is wise to how airline personnel have an elitist view of there abilities but can't back it up with performance.

Maybe the public has Frank's trade confused with AArogant AAirline Management that justifies variable compensation bonus awards to "keep their talent" from moving to the competition, all the while managing straight for a Chapter 11 filing with the said protected talent running the show? Talk about Elitist, My god!

I don't know where you are coming from, but aircraft mechanics back it up every day by not killing anyone. What business are you in where you have to be aware of the lives that are in your hands?

Save that BS for your kids or friends, if you work for American maintenance you know what I'm talking about. I know there are some good ones but the bad ones out number them.

CHAFFED,

Elitism
Characteristics

Attributes that identify an elite vary; personal achievement may not be essential. As a term "Elite" usually describes a person or group of people who are members of the uppermost class of society and wealth can contribute to that class determination. Personal attributes commonly purported by elitist theorists to be characteristic of the elite include: rigorous study of, or great accomplishment within, a particular field; a long track record of competence in a demanding field; an extensive history of dedication and effort in service to a specific discipline (e.g., medicine or law) or a high degree of accomplishment, training or wisdom within a given field. Elitists tend to favor systems such as meritocracy, technocracy and plutocracy as opposed to radical democracy, political egalitarianism and populism.

Some synonyms for "elite" might be "upper-class," "aristocratic," or "big-headed" indicating that the individual in question has a relatively large degree of control over a society's means of production. This includes those who gain this position due to socioeconomic means and not personal achievement. However, these terms are misleading when discussing elitism as a political theory, because they are often associated with negative "class" connotations and fail to appreciate a more unbiased exploration of the philosophy.

By the way, failure in performance and control thereof should be a management function in most corporations.
If there is a lack of performance to match the abilities then you should place your blame for that in the proper arena.
I tend to agree with what I believe is your point, but you are placing the blame in the wrong direction.

Ok very nice, guess I found a college educated A&P. I'm just a military educated A&P but that is very informative

The company doesn't look at t that way they look at it as a cost center. It could be a gold mine if the mechanics there would get in line with what all the other mro's do. The wages are too high compared to the others . If the mechanics want too earn line mech wages they should come to the line.they also have to accept 7 day coverage.
The line seems to believe that OH wages are something the mechanics dreamed up. Why don't you ask the union that you pay dues to what they think. As for the OH mechanics coming to the line, it may happen. Whats stopping you from earning line wages now?
Once again the aircraft docks in TUL are working 7-day coverage. Is it so hard to understand this concept. It is a 24hr 5/8 schedule, with OT on the weekends, however the parking lot is full. The line, will have to accept more time on the aircraft as the system shinks and get off the laptops, start fixing the aircraft instead of deferring eerything to OH.

If you have an a&p like you say, you should be the first one not to degrade my career.

The publics eltist view stops with the passenger bill of rights, cheap seats, fully catered, no weather and no delays, thats it.

What do you know about the original topic.....Seniority?

I know I was layed off long enough to lose it all and now I'm below all the ex twa employees.
That's aviation.
I was commenting on Frank's comment about his trade and how he can use after his aviation life is over.
Then you blurted some crazy I hate management rant, like anyone is ever going to fix that group.
Then the cut paste from a dictionary.
You are wound a bit tight or slipping off the edge but I guess the stress is heavy, understandable.
A long night of signing log books can do it.
