Thought this was interesting, keep in mind this is a conservative estimate of an average use of 4 gallons per household per day since not everyone consumes the same amount.

The US consumes 400 million gallons of gasoline each and every day,

or put another way

146 billion gallons of gasoline per year!

Well I don't. I know that every morning, I get up, read the paper, shower, shave, get dressed, go out and hug my trees, get into my Prius and drive to work. Although it's been pretty cold up here...I still go out and give my trees a hug.

Ever hear a tree bark?

Gotta little hugger in me too.....believe it or not.

Seems there are a lot of ways to give an incentive to drive more efficient cars and decrease our oil dependence. The problem is that the oil companies, government and the auto manufactures are in bed with each other.

Vehicle registration should be based on weight and horse power. The heavier the vehicle the higher the tax, the more horse power, the higher the tax. You want a Suburban, fine … $1,000 a year to register. How bad do you really need it?

Fairly decent technology exists with electric cars (Tesla). If they could mass produce a basic version (small 4/2 passenger size cars) the cost would be reasonable. Set up solar panels (Most locations get enough sun light in a day to charge a car). Set up recycle centers for the cells when they go bad and you have a car that has a range of 150-200 miles (who goes more than that in a day?) that cost $0 to run. The more that are produced the less the cost.

Sure we still need fuel to run the homes but cost saving measures can be implemented there as well. We can cut oil usage in a heart beat but it will involve sacrifices. Unfortunately, the oil companies, government and Auto manufactures don’t want to sacrifice their profits. The people who drive their Suburban’s don’t want to drive a smaller vehicle and since no one wants to make the first move, no one moves at all.

And we wonder why the rest of the world looks at us with such disdain?

Well there is no way to do that but if they want to put a sur-charge on usage above a certain level I am fine with that. Besides, we never have it set above 77 anyway.

How quickly Airline mergers will play out, are likely to accelerate. It seems that the coming calamity, will be like that of the current Banking, SIV, CDO, Housing Crisis, and the coming 2008 Recession,

Peaking of Oil, will come at the most inopportune time-, sooner than most think- "click the blue-hyper-links" in the following link- 🙁

I came across another article of interest. It appears that "Peak Oil" is becoming mainstream, to Main Street now.. CBS Market Watch---

For those that are well educated- There is a quote from the Scripture(s). "It is well be learned, but with all your learning, gain wisdom and understanding". Evidentaly, those in power have constructed the better "mouse trap"-, unfortunately, they never expected to be caught in their own web of deceit. The sad part, the innocent will also feel the house of pain 🙁

No! No! Don't sell the Hummer, Daddy! Sell the house, and we'll move into the Hummer, and park it at Wal-Mart. At least I won't have to cut the grass anymore.

In my own family, my sister was driving around (alone) in a Lincoln Navigator--because "they needed it to tow their boat, don't you know." (The same boat that has been moored at a marina at Orange Beach, AL for the last 3 years.) When gas crossed over $3.00/gal, suddenly she's driving a Honda Civic (I think) hybrid, and the boat towing machine is parked in the garage.

DID I NOT TELL YOU GUYS? MATTHEW SIMMONS WAS RIGHT ON THE MONEY, IN REGARD TO THE SAUDI OIL FIELDS, IN HIS BOOK "TWILIGHT IN THE DESERT". NOW A SAUDI INSIDER, AND BUSINESS WEEK CONFIRM...  🙄
