Just read the article on negotiations from the Star-Telegram. Are you serious? If some of the accusations in that article are correct, the pilot union leaders are absolutely the worst, arrogant, negotiators anywhere. I hope your arrogance will allow you to see what you did to many hard working families that will now be faced with many hardships. Leaving the negotiations at lunch and not returning only to text that you will not be back, demanding crews have rooms away from the ice machines, taking a much needed break at Thanksgiving, etc. Many families and communities depended on this and that was the level of serious to you? Look at your position where your at, give it up if thats the best you got because obviously your not qualified, go back and joke around with others or play with your toys, send somebody that has adult thinking and let the big boys talk. Read the article, and thank a pilot negotiator for the hardships your about to face.

Talked to an AA pilot this weekend. Very defiant and said they were not about to be intimidated by a BK threat as they did before.

Maybe they would like to come and tell it to the people in and around the DFW community.

Yeah well...even the AA fly boys are about to get force fed a healthy dose of crow and humble pie...

As in before the Bankruptcy filing. I wonder what that pilots position is at this time. I hope that the pilots do well under the conditiions the bankrutcy judge will impose.

So far it seems that you guys are being led down the same path we were. The company putting out all sorts of stuff that pits one work group against another.

That article you referenced could have been written in 2003 with the name USAirways in place of AA.

I am still looking for that USAir pilot that "Averages 300k a year" that the company put out in a big press release!

At the time out of a pilot group of 6400 or so, the top 50 or so pilots flying International with 30+ years of seniority might have been making just a touch over 200k. Most F/O's were making from 40 to 70k and the Capts were 130 to 150k. Pretty good money to be sure, but a far far cry from the 300k "Average" the company put out in that article.

I wish you guys the best, having been through it I would not wish it on a CEO.......well, maybe a CEO....but nobody else! 😀

One of the more naive and clueless rants on the current situation. Even Horton admitted that the deal with APA wouldn't have stopped the Chapter 11 filing but you choose to ignore that. APA was on AMR for years to negotiate a deal and finally at the 11th hour, they ramrod some POS into our laps and expect a deal yesterday.

Mitchell is a complete arse. I don't know how the ice machine issue was highlighted, it surely wasn't an unusual request to avoid noise like it or any other. The real problem is that we even had to waste time on the subject because a reputable company wouldn't fight their employees at every step of the way and put an airline Captain in the "Priceline" noisy crap rooms when he has to get up at 4 am.

Please tell that to the families that might lose their jobs, homes ,etc. because you might have had to sleep by an ice machine. I think I have slept next to those and did just fine. Good Grief, this is what were dealing with.

Ice machines were unrelated to the current situation. It's just a TMZ moment for a crappy opinion piece author. It spins up the ignorant.

Like to elaborate on the issues then if not ice machines?

The issue was the total package offered was viewed as equal or worse than what APA may end up in CHP 11. According to the numbers thrown about, it wouldn't have made a dent in the $800 million shortfall claimed by AA.

the rants regarding what the pilot negotiating committee demanded are absolutely irrelevant to the bankruptcy filing. If you want to place blame for the demise of American Airlines and the families of 88,000 employees, blame lays squarely on the shoulders of management. Period! They can go around to any media outlet and blame labor....because the media is controlled by big business, and the unions are protrayed as the business killers in this country, and from the looks of it.....most on this forum have fallen for this trap. The company loves when labor plays the blame game amongst each other.....again to keep the troops occupied while they screw us. Labor needs to turn OUR attention to what's really going on here.....I believe the company never intended on getting agreements with any work group. I believe management thru POS proposals on the table with the hope of labor jumping on the POS proposals, but it didn't happen that way......so, they went back to Plan A. Plan A was filing BK. From the looks of it, Arpey, Horton, Garton and the clowns called the BOD had this whole thing figured out months or years back. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Arpey wasn't going to stick around for massacre, so he turned the ship over to Maintenance's number one enemy......Tom Horton. If anyone believes that TUL will survive the bloodbath with Horton at the helm is FOOLING themselves.......Horton can't wait to rid AA of at least OH, if not the whole M&E department. A few years back, a local president told me that if it wasn't for Arpey, M&E would have been gone a long time ago with Horton. Now, it's all coming to fruition. I don't want to be the bearer of horrible news....but, Horton was the last person M&E needed as CEO. I hope he proves me wrong!!!

Just another question, do you guys even care about others in the community or is it strictly looking out for number 1. Why don't you come by and help someone move because your taking a chance with your wages and others way of living. I know the answer already, you don't have to reply.

AV1,

It sucks for everybody. Now back up a little and read this quote (I lost the source). Apparently Horton seems to disagree with you.

"Talks with the pilots stalled Nov. 14, when the Allied Pilots Association declined to send the companys last offer to members for a vote, saying it would clearly be rejected. The action wasnt what led to the bankruptcy decision, Horton said."

Mach85ER- I can provide just as many articles that state a pilot agreement would have adverted a filing, at least in the near term. The lack of an agreement might not have been the only reason but it also was the last big straw that pushed it over the edge. There is also a thread on this board, I believe by one of your peers called "Another Deadline Passes" almost taunting the company to file.

Strikeforce- Sorry, your part of the problem. People who believe it is the companies sole purpose is to screw its employees any way it can. People like yourself need to get rid of that big chip on your shoulder.
