What's new

Steelers Aircraft

Doesn't really matter....Steeler Nation exists worldwide.
With worldwide recognition 😉

Steelers

Delldude, I agree about the worldwide awareness of the Steelers. They are probably in the top 10 most reconized sports franchises worldwide. While I like and follow Football and most members of this board probably do as well, there are some out their who don't. I think throwing in the word Pittsburgh might aleviate confusion in the minority who will see this aircraft and is also a city name this company should be reconizing. See below photo of the Eagles 319 for what I am suggesting/proposing.

It's the Steelers' 75th anniversary this year. Wouldn't it be a cool idea to have the Steelers plane do a flyover of Heinz Field during a nationally televised game? Come on Tempe....advertising opportunity...

The plane looks great.

To be completely honest however, I am a bit surprised to see a plane honoring PIT, given the decision to downsize PIT and the ever-constant swirling rumor that PIT will be the first base to get the axe...

I may be going out on a limb here and reading too much into it, but could this plane actually be a promising sign for the good folks of the 'Burgh? I'm not suggesting that PIT will be growing, but why would there be a new livery honoring a city that US no longer had plans of having a presence in?

Or could it be more like the "retro" planes honoring a city that was once important to the airlines heritage?

What percentage of Trailers have TV's compared to watching and comprehending the sport of football?

Being the misanthrope that I am, I have to say that the livery design on the A-319 for Pittsburgh is FREAKIN' FAR OUT, MAN!

What a cool design! Very simple. This is the technique that should be applied systemwide to EVERYTHING.

Simple and cool.

wait until you see the creative livery for the betty ford clinic aircraft...

I think somewhere on the aircraft it should say "Pittsburgh" Steelers ? Thoughts ?

LGA777

It does. To most of us anything in Black & Gold says Stillers. OK, who is going with me to the dedication, Ron? Ryan?

It is not even painted yet, that is a photoshop pic.

How many times will they have to take to "Paint it Right" the first try?

Also the other side of the tail, will it be all black, or will it be painted like this side?

The Steelers plane will be one of the most popular liveries out there, mainly because of what it represents. Steeler fans are EVERYWHERE and wear the Black & Gold with pride like no else. Many teams have people ready to jump on the Bandwagon when a team has a great season, but that is NOT the case with the Steelers. The fanbase is always there.....the City is focused on Steelermania and Black & Gold is everywhere, its woven into every aspect of the region. It really is amazing and hard not to get caught up in it. The Steelers represent the pinnacle of sports and I wouldn't be surprised to see the faithful BOW when that plane is rolled out  and you can bet it will be FRONT PAGE NEWS.....get your Towels READY!

Steeler fans can be found Coast-to-Coast and around the globe.....the Eagles are Phillie, IT's The IMAGE.(And I am NOT from Pennsylvania!)

Sounds like there's at least one thing that you like about PIT, so maybe there's hope for you after all!

I like it, very cool but simple (as expected) design. From what I understand both the Steelers and Panthers 319's are to be painted in late August, early September, and at start of NFL Season. While most people from around the country and Carribean who will see this aircraft know what and who the Steelers are I think somewhere on the aircraft it should say "Pittsburgh" Steelers ? Thoughts ?

Although a good thought, I don't think it is necessary.

Steelers are a very highly recognized francise all over the world!!

When I meet people in Europe and I say I am from the states (even if I don't say Pittsburgh yet) they say "Steelers".
