Student points out teacher's ignorance in a political discussion

Why attack a white student who's father is in the military defending America, not a black America or white America. The victim is the student who has nothing to do with the wrongs of history.

I expect both of these students to carry the scars of being the victims of abuse. What did they do to deserve such tirades from teachers who have a chip on their shoulders?

Our children deserve better and a hostile classroom is not a proper environment which promotes learning.

Yes it's easy to blame unions and these type of things are really what Scott Walker is talking about in WI and that's why the Unions are totally going ballistic.

No it's not.

Walker could give a rip about "accountability." What he really wants- or rather what his monied puppet masters want- is A] the complete eradication of checks & balances with regards to labor and B] the crippling of unions- with the ultimate aim of drying up the money supplied to democratic candidates.

Seems to me that the idea of a Labor Organization having to prove their value to their membership by qualifying each year to represent a group is good for worker while bad for the Union. You've seen the BS the IAM tries to pass off as representation which is nothing more then a revenue stream for Buffenbarger and the Democrat Party. Imagine!! A Union actually having to do something for the average Joe/Jane who belongs? What a novel concept and that Kev is what accountability is.

Is Scott Walker ham handed? Arrogant? and not very smooth politically? Yeah, he's all that and more but in terms of budgetary relief for those who pay the bills his plan is working and that further pisses off the Progressives who once again expect someone else to pay the freight so they can have it a bit better. Remember, EVERY dollar a public employee gets has to be confiscated from fellow workers and that amount should be as low as possible. It's like I told that cocky B*tch of a teacher, I held out my Real Estate Tax receipt and reminded her that she works for me not the other way around. She still threatened to harass my step kid. So no sympathy here.

Two separate issues. Nothing wrong with a union proving it's value, nor is there anything wrong w/the membership demanding performance, either.

His plan is *not* working. If it was, where are all the jobs he campaigned on? Remember his mantra of 250k by the end of his term? Even if we use his "revised" numbers of, ahem, "creating" ~ 30k new ones, that's still about 1/2 of what other states have done during the recovery.

If you think stripping 800M out of education is a good thing, so be it. If you think taking 750M from state workers is as well, so be it. Remember, for the latter, that's 750M no longer being spent in the community. It's not hurting the Buffenbargers of the world, it's hurting the guy who owns the local pizza joint, the hair salon, etc.

BTW, should any of these communities decide that they *do* want to invest in education, they can't; Walker has stripped municipalities of their ability to do so, and concentrated power in the capitol.

Lastly, for a guy that throws around the term "crony capitalism" a lot, I'm curious why you're cool with him not only appointing friends/donors to positions, but also altering many offices from merit positions to ones directly appointed by the governor.

I'm not comfortable with most of what Scott Walker is about. He's the dumb version of Chris Christie of NJ. Christie accomplished most of what Walker has if not more and he's being touted as a potential VP candidate. Scott Walker is Ham Handed, Arrogant and IMO not terribly bright. Governments DON'T create jobs. You almost never hear me talk about creating jobs. WHY? Because the role of Government (especially at the Federal level) is to give people the opportunity to create their own jobs and businesses. Did Bill Gates or Steve Jobs need a flunky like Scott Walker to "Create" Apple or Microsoft?

Crony Capitalism is practiced at every level of government whether it's law firms doing bond work for the state, county, municipal governments or using tax breaks to lure a factory to relocate. These activities are nothing more than corporate welfare and serve only the ambitions of the Politician of that particular state, county, city. Just because you don't like Scott Walker doesn't make him more or less a crony capitalist then the person he's running against. Look at the debacle known as Solyndra and everything going on with Monsanto. You act as if Walker is some aberration when in fact he is the norm for the overwhelming majority of politicians from both parties.

No, I act as a person that is honestly surprised to see you not more angry about what he's doing, given your frequent railing against crony capitalism.

Note also that almost *every* ad for Walker's recall fight focuses on him- as in the government- creating jobs.

Which shows several things.

Most people are not engaged and involved in the political process. Preferring to follow along blindly until they lose their job.

37% of High School Seniors can't find Lincoln, NE on the map, so how could you expect the average person to even comprehend Austrian, Chicago or Keynesian School economic policy? We are a nation of Dummies willing to be led by anyone who has enough money to convince us that somehow it will be different.

This forces the politician to get into bed with some pretty unsavory characters who expect a return on investment. (Crony Capitalism or more politely "Access")

So sadly we get the government we deserve, Kev and if you think for one minute of one day the Democrat running against Walker cares about the average worker then I have a cedar swamp in the Pine lands of NJ I can let you have cheap. The MKG Mayor is pandering to those who will support him with Dollars. SEIU, AFL-CIO and a host of other Progressive organizations whose goal is to further their existence and agenda in that order.

Scott Walker is merely a symptom of the disease of Crony Capitalism and his opponent isn't the cure. Until the Avg. Joe/Jane stand up in large enough numbers it will continue to be a power grab by competing agendas, none of which help the working man.

It's one of those cool sounding phrases that people like to repeat.
