With the ruling, the cultural battle lines have been drawn. The fundamental concept of the right to live as you choose, free from an overbearing eyes, ears and hands of a tyrannical  government have been ignored.

With one group invoking the very name of no less than God has been thrown into the mix. It would be prudent that while we have a dominant Christian demographic we DO NOT have a state sanctioned religion. In fact our founders were against any such verbiage in even our Declaration of Independence much less our COTUS.

What our deeply devout brethren fail to grasp is that many off us who support the ruling also would balk at any government attempt to deny your beliefs.

For me why the government is even in the marriage business boggles my mind.

Someone better have a sit down with the likes of Jindal, Huckabee, Abbot, Cruz ..... among others who want to amend the US Constitution to codify their religious beliefs into law. Granted, the likelihood of success is slim to none, the fact that their religious beliefs so cloud their understanding of the COTUS is very disturbing.

Government was invited into marriage by religion to help protect the institution. No one had the forethought to understand that people change and what people once thought was good (racism, sexism .. etc) people now think is bad.

Seems to be one of the staples of the US..... don't worry about tomorrow.

Help me out here;!Do you actually believe that, or are you just trying to bait people into responding?
I actually believe that.  Every liberal I have ever met has been a compulsive liar and manipulator. It seems their only mission in life is to create an environment where they don't have to take personal responsibility for their own actions.

The idea of live & let live has long been forgotten in this country...
It sure has... by the liberals. The liberals are the ones who have been pushing "politically correct" on the public for 20+ years..... and let's be honest, political correctness is just another word for liberal peer pressure.

Personally I think marginalizing and shaming the vocal minority who are against equality for all is a good thing.
Exactly.

Wow.

It is refreshing that you and your ilk are now a minority in this country.

and they failed.

Well I am glad to see at least one liberal on here admit that marriage is a religious institution. Even though just this week Ms Tree was claiming it was a Constitutionally granted right............

I can understand that coming from someone who has no clue about the COTUS or the US legal system.  I am sorry for your feelings of inadequacy.  Nothing I can do about that.

Civics 101 says that Fed laws trump State laws.  The SCOTUS made a ruling. They only way around it is to amend the COTUS.  That is the way the US legal system works.  What is so hard to understand about that?
Just another example of the left lying and manipulating people.

Right Kev3188?

There are two distinct institutions with the same name. One is civil, one is religious. At one point in our history they two institutions overlapped, now there are other people who want access to the legal benefits granted to a married couple.

Religion would have thought twice before inviting Government into bed with them. Divorces are messy.

It's a lie? What EXACTLY is a lie. Spell it out for us. I dare you.

You know,.....after careful analysis, it really isn't hard to know 'Why' the vast majority of the GOP is coming from,  once one realizes 'Where' they're coming from !

Any group so socially engineered to believe that Capitalism (at virtually ANY cost ) is GOOD,  that Believe that some guy named Jesus is part of a mythical TRIFECTA of our CREATOR, who's  Birthday is celebrated on a 'made up' date, who is purported to have been born to a Virgin woman,.. Who defied scientific Gravity, to arise to the heavens and is predicted to reappear walking down the Middle of Commonwealth Ave (here in Boston) at High Noon , six months from now, is capable of truly believing that  1 + 1  does equal  3  !

Marriage is not a constitutional right.

Does that spell it out for you?

If gays want a civil union than fine. I never really had an issue with that. However, I will be damned if I will accept gays redefining marriage to suit there purposes.

Are you implying that the capitalist economic model coupled with education and ingenuity has not led our country to prosperity?

You are clueless, read the decision, its about the 14th amendment, is that too hard for that puny brain to comprehend?

Ultimately it's about way more than the 14th Amendment. Like it or don't it represents a cultural shift some object to. There are economic ramifications as well. IMO the government has no place in a person's bedroom beyond that of civil tort matters.

A license is nothing more then a tax. A case of the Government giving you permission to do what our Creator already conferred on you at birth..

Yes it is. The SCOTUS has said marriage is a fundamental right 18 times. The 14th alsays that all llaws.must apply to everyone equally.

Try again.

Unless you have the legal ability to somehow affect the right of people to marry, the fact that you do not accept it does not matter in the slightest.
