Those that have pushed off their fear in TULE have already revolted. They revolted before this topic opened.Tulsa TWU agreeing to push the yes vote for more work makes sense.
100% OSM? Even Tulsa workers would revolt against that.................at least I think they would.
Line mechanics making $5 an hour less than our peers and overhaul mechanics making OSM wages? Never.
Even Whoreton isn't that stupid.
ANY MEMBER HEARD THIS ABOUT THE COMPANY NOW WANTING TO HAVE TWO DIFFERENT CONTRACTS FOR OVERHAUL AND LINE CAME FROM SOMEONE OUT IN ORD
The company is running around saying to the line guys that we should vote away all our OT rules, Bidding rules, Seniority rights , job protection, pensions, retiree medical, and more because the deal will also allow them, if they choose, to outsource enough OH to make the line guys the majority, in the meantime, they have Local 514 and Tulsa management telling their members that if they dont vote this in that the company will outsource enough OH to make the line guys the majority.
They are lying to both the line and Tulsa. They probably will never make the line the majority but they will shed a lot more than 2000 jobs by 2017.
VOTE NO.
I remember one of the Local presidents mentioning that during the recent negotiating sessions the company and the International had a closed door meeting with the Tulsa union officers. What was discussed was and still is a secret. All other presidents in the negotiating committee were not invited. Care to speculate?
My take is that Tulsa was told that more work would come into Tulsa from the line stations. B-checks, Interior checks, Fuel tank jobs, scheduled engine changes, etc...
If they can get a YES vote from Tulsa then they would get work and minimize the layoffs. The line stations would lose the work and the RIFs would be hit harder at the line stations. My opinion of course.
bob i agree with 99% of what you usually say on here, but i do have to disagree with you on the mci point. i was in st.louis at the time of the 2003 vote for concessions and i was a no vote as i am now. but i sorry to disagree with all native aa guys blaming mci for the concessions in 2003. at the time there was probly less than 600 guys at mci. so according to my math even if every single one voted yes for the concessions, the 9000 aa mechs should have been able to out vote them. but if it makes you all the native aa guys feel better to blame mci guys for the concessions i guess there is nothing i can do about it. but you all need to look at yourselves for that passing. hell i dont think there was 2000 twa amt in the whole system at that time. so if every twa guy voted for it, it should have been voted down by the aa natives. We do not know what was discussed between the company and Tulsa, but they were very quick at taking all the work they could from AFW, didnt hesitate a bit, just like when MCI closed. Ironically it was MCI that provided the votes needed to pass the 2003 deal and close MCI. Tulsa had provided enough NO votes that if not for all the YES votes out of MCI the 2003 deal would have been rejected and we would likely be earning around $20k a year more than we are. The leaders of MCI ran around telling everyone that they had to Vote Yes to save their base, then the company closed it a few years later after they got what they needed out of it and opened DWH. I wonder if the leaders of Tulsa are set to repeat history? Fuel is expensive and Pilots are in short supply, does it make sense to ferry flights to Tulsa if you can get a deal in DFW? Are the Tulsa leaders unwittingly telling their guys to vote themselves a pay cut that will also eventuate in the loss of their Jobs as well? Gordon Clark was the primary leader of the Vote Yes movement in MCI back in 2003, they took care of him, gave him an International spot as an organizer, but his members got no special treatment, bet they would have been better off had they kept their wages high while it lasted. Who knows where Hewitt will be when this all settles out, we know he lost in his electoral attempt at an International spot but then again there's always those appointed spots at the Convention next year.
at the time there was probly less than 600 guys at mci.
I don't Blame former TWA GUYS ! I BLAME THE TWU FOR 2003 !!! They have a long history of GIVEBACKSbob i agree with 99% of what you usually say on here, but i do have to disagree with you on the mci point. i was in st.louis at the time of the 2003 vote for concessions and i was a no vote as i am now. but i sorry to disagree with all native aa guys blaming mci for the concessions in 2003. at the time there was probly less than 600 guys at mci. so according to my math even if every single one voted yes for the concessions, the 9000 aa mechs should have been able to out vote them. but if it makes you all the native aa guys feel better to blame mci guys for the concessions i guess there is nothing i can do about it. but you all need to look at yourselves for that passing. hell i dont think there was 2000 twa amt in the whole system at that time. so if every twa guy voted for it, it should have been voted down by the aa natives.
