I don't see any reason why the IAM should give this company a Transition Agreement, PERIOD..

They are just "one way" and "dead end".

Don't know this for sure, but heard the company needs Transition Agreements from Labor in order to move on with future Merger plans..

There is one reason why the IAM wants a transition agreement and that is to include us in their pension plan. If the IAM pension plan does show up in any transition agreement, regardless of what other goodies might be included, it's a NO vote. Nobody wants to get tangled in that mess.

If the company's response is anything like fleet, the IAM should just walk away from the table!!! Lets live with this POS contract till 09. Tired of the IAM bending over and spreading whenever the company asks. We lost the CoC and now the only chip we have on our side is the fact it could hold up a merger/buy out with this contract mess in place. Remember last time we bent over and took a POS contract, it was not to long after that the US/AWA merger was announced.

If you are on the committee then you already know the answer to the question.
If you are actually asking what we want now - that is different. NO IAM PENSION!! Do not give up profit sharing.....bring the wages and the length of contract out of the ridiculous level. Better still - get rid of the IAm and get a better contract.

Why is the Pensio such a bad idea?

I agree that since the CIC was lost that the Profit Sharing should remain.

I think the Company's goal is to still dig into this bankrupt contract and take more from it.
Both sides i guess agreed that after this merger it would be a good thing to 'spice up' the contract. You know kinda make it better. But it cannot cost any more than it already does.

So if 'we' want any value to come our way then we must give Al some value and you know what he wants.

Now the company has the perfect excuse not to give much if any w/ the "reccesion scare' and high fuel costs. Pass that cost on to the customers. That's what our Gov't does. I still drive.

Right now neither the east nor the west have a DBP, the IAM pension is a seperate entity and pays a good benefit.

The ramp at US, UA and NW have it now as well as the CO F/As and NW CSA and UA CSA.

I'd get time off this board (and at work) if I said what Al could have....CIC or no CIC - there should be profitsharing. We all did our jobs to get the company in a position to MAKE a profit we should all get a piece of it. Period.

I just think it is foolish to put your pension (your future) in the hands of the iam (or any other union). That is your money to manage - you can invest it as YOU see fit. Why on Earth would you believe for a nanosecond that this union gives 2 shakes of a limp noodle about you? IT"S YOUR MONEY THEY WANT...IT"S YOUR MONEY THAT THEY NEED!!!! The blue hairs that have this in their contract already...their penion is getting paid from our dues. We will get paid IF the iam has enough members to pay for ours when that day comes. Sober up guys....the iam has done what for this membership that you would stand up and say "yup, give them my retirement money - cuz I TRUST 'em".

so rants the ratchet....

If Pension has multiemployer contributions; then it seems safe and may pay decent.

And the billions in concessions that the labor has made should be rewarded in the profit sharing. But the company is coming out with all new employees payouts, ever heard of the triple play humdinger payout??

They measure every quarter the complaints, on-time and mishandled bags, 'we' get in the top three of all then it pays $50 for each. Or if 'we' make top three in one it's $50.

So there is there incentive to work hard...That could possibly pay out an extra $600 a YEAR man.

Thanks for playing Mr Koolaide........

But under the IAM pension a mechanic would not be able to collect from the plan if he or she worked even part time at an FBO as a mechanic.

Why not?

Well, "Mr.", I absolutely do not believe you are who you represent yourself to be. I know the Westies are a bit wet behind the ears when it comes to union negotiations, but if any member of the IAM made a public statement like several you have made on here, you should immediately be recalled off any "committee" you claim to be a part of.

If you are telling the truth, then you are quite simply, being foolish, and disloyal to those you are supposed to be representing.

However, I've been down this road too many times not to spot the plants the company and JG like to use anytime we are in negotiations that come on here and attempt to manipulate and frighten people.

Believe me, there will be no "cost neutral" contract approved by the membership. The members, and most other employees have suffered through too much for too long under these BK contracts and most feel like they have nothing much left to lose and are disgusted with the company, the union, and are planning on new lines of work anyway. Doug will never get away with what JG is whispering in his ear.

I see through you like you're made of GLASS, now go back in your cubicle and make up a new name.
