The $75,000 buyout was offered by the company after the mechanics shot down the first lousy teamsters offer. Did you know the language wasn't even written on the buyout til AFTER the second vote took place? Thats right, the ibt and their supposed negotiations skills had us vote on a company promise of an early out. The language the company put forward ended up being so draconian in its application it actually instructed anyone interested to consult legal representation!
And BTW NO ONE at UAL got $15,000 in signing bonuses, the top was 11,500.... and that wasn't close to the retro the teamsters had originally promised us.

Yes, the majority voted in the ibt. When they were promising double vesting pensions, and early contract openers, and democracy, and representation.
You think the older mechanics who are 5+ years closer to retirement with NO PENSION would vote for them now?
You think the aprox 800+ mechanics that lost their jobs in the ibts first year on the property would vote for them now?
You think the furloughees whose doors they pounded on for cards, only to be screwed over, in our latest CBA would vote for them now?
You think the sCAL mechanics who wanted arbitration to settle our seniority dispute would vote for them now?
After all their BS and bluster, all their supposed prowess at negotiating with UAL, where are we?
Almost 2 weeks beyond the amendable date of our CBA with negotiations suspended by MUTUAL agreement with the company.

Looks like the iam placed everything in the iam pension fund, as far as this election. The truth is that nobody will lose the benefits already vested in the iam pension, so the iam campaign is really suspect. However, the ibt campaign, imo, appears to be disasterous, as it has spent alot of its campaign reacting to the iam distortions. I would have thought that the ibt would pound the terrible representation of the iam and the very suspect representation of "the association", instead of reducing the major element of the campaign down to ibt pension vs iam pension. The iam will win that 100% of the time.
Now don't you go and confuse Travis with the Facts. Your gonna give him a headache.
My point is made. You are an angry man. Your willing to vote for the IBT even though your pension stops accruing, You give up having your own maintenance local, you pay more in union dues, you will be assigned to a local of the IBT's choice, you will have a business agent appointed to represent you. Those are choices you make when you do not make an informed decision. Go ahead and vote for the Teamsters. You can only blame yourself when you realize the Teamsters failed to be your savior.
You obviously have your blinders on Travis. Pls carry on with your support for the teamsters...

What is terrible for usair mx is that their "all in" compensation sucks bad and isnt even a bankrupt contract.
And the association, except for fleet service, is going to subject the usairways mx to another 8-12 months of waiting around with yet another election. If the ibt wins rights then negotiations for a contract could resume immediately instead of another 12 month delay. Imo, management is rotfliao hoping ibt loses and possibly two more votes happen.

I'm fairly sure negotiations wouldn't continue right away if the Ibt is voted in. They would start all over and go at a snails pace. Not that I'm an IAM fan, but I think the Ibt would be a big mistake.
The mechanics at US make more than their counterparts at AA, the TA is just an improvement of the Chapter 11 CBA.
The raid has caused the company not to negotiate and the mediator has let it up to the company and the union to contact him for dates and Hemenway wont negotiate till after the representational election is over.
There will be no delay if the IAM wins, if the ibt wins, the company and the ibt will start negotiations all over, from the beginning, there by extending the time period of negotiations.

700, of course there will be a delay. If the iam wins, the company can sit back and wait for another election which will definately postpone things another 12 months with "the association" representational dispute. Im just saying that if timing is anything then the quickest way to conclude all elections would tilt towards the ibt.

Blue collar, i am not even a voter in this so i wasnt casting any support or bias any which way. If i were biased i would say that it would benefit me moreso if the mx voted iam. Fleet service is better off with the mx as the same union.

Tim, I do agree with your statements. I too believe the nego's could be stalled longer due to, if the ibt wins, they will start from scratch on the contract talks. However, if the IAM wins, they could very easily continue talks as they will remain the representational union until something is done with this IAM/TWU association in which if it does go thru and there is an association it will still be the IAM union as the representational union on the US mechanics side of the fence, therefore there is no reason to not continue contract talks if the IAM is the winner of this current election. On a side note you mention, IYO you believe there will be at least 300 votes for AMFA to trigger a run off vote. Is there a "WRITE-IN" campaign quietly going on at US? If so I think that is great. Not sure if 300 is the magical number, but we do get the idea. If the US guys have been following the fiasco going on at AA, then they would know about all the illegal activity the teamsters have been using to block AMFA at AA, in which now even the NMB is investigating the forgery of cards collected. Good luck to you and all your members, hope you guys have a very successful "WRITE-IN AMFA" election. Just in case there is no election at AA, if AMFA was able to get on the run-off ballot at US, then they could very well be a contingent at AA after the merger.
According to what I read a while back all contracts have to be in place before a SCS is allowed. If USAir has no CBA in place then the merger and or the SCS will not happen. This will delay the closing of the BK for AA. If I am mistaken can someone please verify what I have posted here.
