Teamsters get new TA for Ramp

I've seen both contracts since I am a CAL mechanic. I do agree you guys at CAL ramp got a disastrous T/A, but it wasn't because the ibt gave it all to us mechanics. We got sold a bill of goods also. We get more vacation probably because that is the industry standard maintenance wise, we have absolutely NO scope, OT is the average standard OT anybody would get and the signing bonus was the carrot on the stick to get the majority to vote in this crap the ibt came back to us with. Don't blame the mechanics for a worse than garbage job the ibt has done for you, blame the ibt.
I am no iam fan, they are scabs in my eyes, but so is the ibt. If I was a ramper, the iam would be my choice. They have done more for the ramp than the ibt will ever do.

Look at the USA mechanics agreement and compare it to the first fleet contract, and look and both agreements now. The mechanics agreement at USA is by far superior.

TA or EZ Wichever it is. What language are you writing of? It isn't vacation or overtime rates. It must be scope. Your pal cornhole negotiated and signed off on that language. He was voted off the island for that. Could it be that's what your sore about or is because he took you down with him?

Our USA Negotiators will make up for it and then some next year.

Happy and prosperous New Year for all, including you TA or EZ

You are saying that your first US Airways agreement had all of those negotiated benefits? Did you Support the IAM and Randy Canale, and those members from USA responsible for negotiating that amazing first agreement? Great job Janitor!
Ken Thiede started the negotiations in that contract but Tom Brickner took over after Thiede retired. Randy Canale never was assigned to negotiate that contract nor did he sign it.

Well that would explain your love for Theide and Brickner and IAM......cuz your 1st agreement was apparently industry leading.

TA

Is that all you got?....................................The fact remains, CW MacCall should remain on the interstate highways and leave the airports to experts in the Railway Labor Act and the aviation industry, THE MACHINISTS.

TA

thank you for wishing us luck.

Luck is when preparation meets oppertunity.

The USA Negotiation Committee has experienced how a contract should not be written, by living a contract negotiated by a UA BOD and reviewing the recent TA negotiated by CW MacCall and the rest of his C B Radio friends, breaker.....breaker!

The ND guys are top notch unionist's and know how to negotiate a contract. DP is gonna have some 'splainin' to do to his board of directors after this deal is done.

On a personal note: I'm worried about you.

In my opinion your postings reflect a lot of hostility, they make medication for that.

What's the difference between loading freight into a pit or loading freight into a trailer?

EZ,

One has wings and flight attendants and the other one has 10 wheels and flies?
Ok enough of the riddles. Your queston hardly dignifies an answer, you should know.

But I'll bite.

Airlines are a very dangerous place to work for airline employees. The Last OSHA report had airlines at somewhere around 30 per every 1000. Coal mines have a bad year at 4 per 1000. Narrow body aircraft are manually loaded. Backs, knees, shoulders, necks, elbows wear out. That is just the start. The FAA mandates training and regulations on every aspect of the ramp operation. Dangerous Goods that are FAA approved for transportation are loaded and those goods that are not approved are rejected. Fleet Service has to know the difference. Deicing, R and D, fueling, MAC, Walk arounds looking for damage or anything out of the ordinary, fellow employees count on us doing our job right, for the safety of passengers, themselves, and their families. Let's not devalue each others job, airline management have all ready done enough of that.

Now with that said, Teamsters have no idea what our jobs are about, let alone know what a MAC is.
Look at the language in the TA,
NO SCOPE if they were truly interested CAL would have gotten more than 40 pieces of copper. They set the industry back into the 90's. We shall see if the TA is ratified tomorow.

Now that the ratification is almost over perhaps you can get some rest.

Take it easy famous, I think you should have the members who negotiated your first contract pick up where they left off after all that was the best contract ever!

freddie, wow! that was a nice detailed job description. educational also. thanks for the response. the only difference I ever knew between the "highway system" and the "expert airport" (your words, not mine) was the money the employees earned. My bother in law at a major grocery chain handling freight, 67k. he's IBT. My son at fedex 74k. OMG! non-union.

EZ,

Good for your brother in law and son, a mother has a right to brag. Crab boat deckhands in Alaska makes $80000.00 in two weeks and exec's at airlines make that in a day. What's your point?

Need to look at total compensation. Base pay. overtime. insurance. vacation. working conditions. pension. The IAM towers over the IBT in the aviation industry. IBT negotiated with a company that had over 9 billion dollars in cash and only got 40 pieces of copper and no scope..............very weak.
With that being said, if the crab boat caught a 9 billion dollar catch, a full share deck hand would have walked off the gang plank and onto the dock with 950,000.00 dollars.

Perhaps your brother in law can give you a recommondation to sack groceries,....................... they get tips you know .........or better yet we both should go to Alaska and work on a Crab Boat.
