Ted Cruz Announces

HI kids, thought I'd check in.

Cruz leading in Iowa by 5, but it's early.

I found it funny how Cruz was mocked when he announced.
Reagan was mocked as well, that didn't end well for the naysayers.

I can't wait until the real debates start.
Cruz is a Princeton and Harvard graduate and at Princeton, they now have the "Ted Cruz" award for the debate team.

Cruz has played it perfectly to date.
He's alienated no one from the Trump band wagon, and the current situation with terrorism on the front burner plays right into his wheelhouse.

Cruz has so much in common with Obama then....not born in this country...a Harvard grad...and a gifted speaker.   If he were black and a democrat, the GOP would have a field day with him.

Well, there is a few teeny tiny things, like the total absence of any of O's college records, the admitted drug use, just generally, not much of a resume compared to Cruz, but yeah.

I hope you are right. I would love to see Cruz on the ticket for the GOP.

Does anyone seriously care if candidate smoked weed as a teenager?

It was more than weed , but yeah, what hell, O was doing lines of Coke while Ted Cruz was getting debating awards named after him, I see the similarities.

Carter's crew threw a party too when Reagan got the nomination, party on .

Don't forget about shutting the government down once and trying to do it a second time based on videos that were full fabrications. Then there is his support of the personhood amendments, stance against marriage equality, his willingness to send troops to the ME again... just to name a few.

Cruz is not Reagan. No one thought Obama had a chance in 2010 given the economy the way it was and yet Romney was able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I'm more interested in who the candidates are now (or at least as adults) than how they were/what they did in HS.

30 minutes without a TelePrompTer ,
Pretty impressive,
Obama can't even speak to 3rd graders without one.

Had a Demorat come up to me and say, "How can Cruz run, he was born in Canada" to which I replied, "Are you sh!ttin' me?"
I think you would have been more inclined to ask the third grader "can you show me how to spell Democrat"?

I'm just wondering if CMH will be a supportive of Cruz should his 23% national sales tax gets implemented.  That "flat tax" idea sure sounds good....until you see what else is a part of it.  Cut the middle class taxes on what they earn by 5%....and increase the tax on everything they by by 23%.  With so many middle class (what's left of it) folks spending about as much as they earn, that's an increase of almost 10% in what they pay to the feds.  Of course...."the rich" will also be paying 23% on everything that THEY buy....but they will have had the tax on what they EARN cut by 29%.  And they don't spend as much as they earn...they invest it.   And we'll cut the capital gains taxes on THAT money so that they will be the biggest winners.

Yes
My #1 issue is
Who will protect this country the best.
Then its fiscal policy.

Nothing else registers for me,
don't care about abortion
Don't care about gay marriages or any other social issue which will be rendered mute if we don't get a handle on the folks that want us dead.

Translation, who is going to invade/bomb the most countries.

I'm still not sure why we are talking about Cruz. He's not eligible to be president anyways.

I believe your translation is inaccurate , Reagan defeated the Soviet Union without firing a shot or deploying one soldier.
What a lot of people didn't understand about Reagan was how well read on history he was.

Cruz is also very well read on history, but most of the left on these boards will focus on gay marriage, planned parenthood, abortion, you know , things that have nothing to do with ISIS cutting the heads off of people and continually planning and carrying out terrorist attacks on Americans everywhere.

When the social issues are brought up here or anywhere, I tune out, they mean nothing, less than zero, in this election.

Protect this nations borders and sovereignty first, protect the citizens, secure a strong fiscal policy not built on phony money.
Everything else, leave to MSNBC to debate to no audience.

I hate to point this out to you, but the soviet union wasn't shooting up discos in Paris, beheading journalists or burning POW's. alive.  It's a little different with ISIS than it was with Russia.   How different are they?  We invaded Iraq to "keep our country safe from terrorism".  The result of that is ISIS.  If we carpet bomb a country to get rid of ISIS, it will help recruit members to an even bigger group that hates the US.  If you want to protect our borders by bombing the heck out of a country in a region of the world where they haven't gotten along for 10,000 years, then you need to know that you are you committing your son, your sons son, and HIS son to fighting there.  Because anybody who cares enough about this country is willing to either go there themselves to help fight, or if they are too old to go, are willing to send their kids there to fight.  Are you ready to go?  Is your son (or daughter)?

And if anyone is focusing on gay marriage, it's Teddy.  Why he embraced that Kentucky county clerk for not issuing marriage licenses to gay couples, and wants to put Jesus back into our government.  And pandering to Christian groups to get elected by promising to bring back Christian values to government is a lot like the Taliban.  FWIW...the ones who are pushing social issues are the republicans.

And add to all that - you will be most likely be paying 10% MORE (at least) to the government if Ted's tax plan is implemented.  AND...since we'd be fighting a never ending war with money we don't have - we'll most likely need to raise that national sales tax to 26 or 27 percent.
