Ted Cruz Announces

First off...Teddy is "true blue" in every category.  None of the others even come close.  Trump appeals to the disgruntled white male...Ted appeals to the lunatic fringe.  His stance on taxes will be HORRIBLE for the middle class and for the debt....but it's got him a solid blue on that one.  HIs foreign policy will likely start WW3, but it's solid blue as well.  It's tea party all over it.  That's not substance, it's tea.
First, forget about the blue ratings, there is a ton of info on each candidate , and it's all substantive and relevant, forget about how they rate it, it is all factual.

Why would his tax plan be bad for debt and the middle class if it creates explosive growth, which is what I read it as.

And explain how he would cause WW3 when we essentially are already in WW3?

A couple things, personally, I wish Cruz would get off the bulldozing house thing.

And
I hope Trump does sue Cruz over his citizenship, he won't because if he does, he will no longer have it as an issue.

Tax plan - you read "tax cuts for me...tax cuts for business".  and that causes explosive growth in theory.  On a smaller scale, they tried exactly this in Kansas.  It hasn't quite worked out that way.  But..Cruz wants to eliminate that onerous 35% corporate tax....you know, the tax that, at year end, the bean counter tweak and twist and bring down the taxable profits to a level where, in many cases, they pay almost nothing...if not nothing at all (remember how you all were pissed at GE and the Obama connection).  So we eliminate a tax that many weren't paying anyways and we replace it with one that is 18% in every step of production, where the bean counters can't whittle down the profits...and each person gets to "credit" the tax they pay when it moves to the next person.  When it becomes the final product is moved to the consumer - who's going to be ultimately be paying that 18%?  The consumer.

NOw...that's basically a tax on everything that we buy, whether we are in the top 1 percent, the middle class  or the 47% who "pay nothing in taxes".  So that sound fair.  Except.....Ted gets full blue marks for his 10% flat tax.  That means for the average middle class taxpayer, they can get their effective rate down to 15%...so they would get a 5% tax cut.  On the other hand....the upper class, who has a (single) taxable income over $190,000 will get anywhere from a 23% to a 29% tax cut (to the across the board 10% rate).   Now...here is where it gets tricky for the middle class.   The VAT becomes a "consumption tax", and a scary number of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck...meaning they spend almost as much as they take in.  So....if I got a 5% tax cut on what I earned, but I have to pay an 18% consumption tax on what I buy....then the net effect on the middle class is that they will be paying 13% MORE in taxes than they are today.   The upper levels aren't impacted as much since they really don't spend anywhere close to what they earn.  So they get a tax cut from 23 to 29% and they are paying 18% on what they spend (which again doesn't come close to what they earn), their net REDUCTION in taxes is well over 30%.

So that 5% tax cut for the middle class is the "carrot" to get middle class republicans to vote against their own best interests.

As for WW3....we may well be in it.  But when you have a "Christian God first" candidate taking up a battle against a group that happens to be non Christian...and when you whip America into a frenzy to where they think that the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim...you set the stage for ending WW3...and not in a good way.

Funny you can't debate the issue so you have to dodge and deflect.

He is trying to be like Reagan, Bush, and Cheney.

Turns into Mr Posting Etiquette overnight.....lol

Change you can believe in?

All true patriots

Ask the few hundred marines' families about Beirut?

Arms for Iran-Contra, yep, arming our enemies, true patriot, how many weapons did the US send to the Taliban and Iraq?

Brought us into a war that had nothing to do with 9/11, created ISIS.

Outing a CIA agent.

If thats what you call true patriots, then you have a strange definition of it.

Clinton opened the door for Iraq. No disputing that. Set the direction for and made removal of one Saddam Hussien official US policy in 1998.

No one was ever charged for leaking classified info regarding Plame.

Taliban and Iraq weren't an enemy at the time, you should know that.

Scooter Libby was most certainly charged.

Yes....Clinton opened the door to Iraq.  What he didn't really open the door to though was giving the middle finger to the United Nations and getting his "coalition of the willing" to head in there and take care of business.    There's no doubt about that either.

Yes...the taliban and Saddam were our friends at the time.  We gave Saddam some chemical weapons to keep Iran in line (before we sold some arms to Iran in another deal).  I saw an interesting article that Putin is reaching out the the taliban to help them fight ISIS.  Just read that sentence again if you want a great reason why we should just get the hell out of the middle east.

As for Plame....since cartoons are the best way of communicating on this site, I offer you this
