BTW - if you want concerns taken seriously by Management then you need a new CBA not run by people who do not want to renege on their contractual agreements and binding arbitration. Until that changes I don't know how anyone would take anything USAPA says or does seriously. It is really a simple and black and white issue when it comes to credibility and trustworthiness. Why would they listen to either side when both pull some of the things they have. Denying jumpseats, confrontations, the PHX distance learning disgusting, embarrassing meltdown?

On your other point, no after going over the list and my age as compared with the age of the guys above me as per NIC...I am indeed better off working on this BK contract for 5 -10 years longer than I would be otherwise. That takes into consideration monthly bidding power, vacation bidding, equipment I can reasonablely expect to hold using both methods etc. For much of the list NIC means retiring as an F/O on Kirby style rates, or retiring as Captain on BK rates. The Bk rates are better.

It really is as simple as that for the majority of the east group. I don't think anybody cares too much about which seat, just which payrate. Now if the company came up with rates that paid the permanant F/O's 125k a year (ie BK capt. rates) then I bet you could get a contract voted in with NIC included. But as you said above, growth is a non factor around here so the BK rates are the only way a huge number of the older guys on the east will ever see 6 figures in a paycheck.

I know, bad to quote yourself, but wanted to add this to show why it works out that way.

We have 3400 give or take currently on the east list, In the next 5 years 753 are gone, in 7 years 1252 are gone, and in 10 years 2018 are gone. That is 3/4 of the entire east list gone in 10 years. That is movement that the bottom half of the east list would never see under NIC due to the fact that most of the east list is older than most of the west list, especially the bottom half, but they would be junior to them, thus never upgrading. I know west has retirements coming also, but no where near the numbers that the east does. So good bad or indifferent that is why most of the east list has no problem with "sucking BK rates for 5-10 years"

I think Management listened to and respected ALPA, though they were probably a bit concerned that ALPA was seriously considering any modifications to binding arbitration. However, your're right that a few pilots don't represent themselves like the professionals that comes with the level of responsibility that goes with their position. I don't support or condone a lot of what happens on both sides, though the few troublemakers and embarrassing segments are certainly far fewer than the vast number of pilots who come to work, do their jobs effectively, and stay well away from the political fray generated by the NIC and USAPA stuff. The pilots who want to act like spoiled toddlers (or classic union thugs), bring the whole profession down for everyone and Management has little ability to separate the wheat from the chaff since a corrupt CBA stands be them and the pilots at large.
