The 4th Amendment

Thank for proving my point.

I'm just reading your sacred document.  It says "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."  So which militia to you belong to...and is it well regulated.  We're letting you bear arms, so you need to be in the militia.

Not to take this off topic about the second amendment....but if I am reading the sacred text properly, your right to bear arms is to insure the security of our free state.  Looks like you're going to Syria Petey...you can take your guns.  Thank uncle Sam for that.

It is also "ok" to comduct random drug testing without any probable cause, search warrant, or even a mere suspicion that the individual actually did anything, because some people might do something bad sometime and some other people are scared.
Ditto sobriety checkpoints
All with the rabid support of the scared little law and order "if you haven't done anything wrong you don't have anything to worry about" crowd.
The fake conservatives who hypocritically believe that the constitution is fungible and should be intrepreted in light of today's reality when it suits them, and strictly by the letter of the 1789 worldview when that fits their perverse version of christianity or morality.
All of everyone's rights are every bit as important as any of anyone's.

"That's different."

The term "well regulated" doesn't mean what you think it means. Liberals constantly gets it wrong. It doesn't mean extensive government regulation.

But what does well-regulated really mean?

Via Constitution.org

The following are taken from the Oxford English Dictionary, and bracket in time the writing of the 2nd amendment:

1709: If a liberal Education has formed in us well-regulated Appetites and worthy Inclinations.

1714: The practice of all well-regulated courts of justice in the world.

1812: The equation of time is the adjustment of the difference of time as shown by a well-regulated clock and a true sun dial.

1848: A remissness for which I am sure every well-regulated person will blame the Mayor.

1862: It appeared to her well-regulated mind, like a clandestine proceeding.

1894: The newspaper, a never wanting adjunct to every well-regulated American embryo city.

The phrase well-regulated was in common use long before 1789, and remained so for a century thereafter. It referred to the property of something being in proper working order. Something that was well-regulated was calibrated correctly, functioning as expected. Establishing government oversight of the peoples arms was not only not the intent in using the phrase in the 2nd amendment, it was precisely to render the government powerless to do so that the founders wrote it.

And the reason you have the right to bear arms is to insure the security of the free state.  So when are you and Petey heading to Syria...your country needs you.  For almost 250 years they have insured that you have had the right to bear arms to insure the safety of the state.  They haven't asked much in return.  But we NEED you now.  So grab your guns and hop the next plane to Syria....it's your constitutional duty.  AFter all...you guys fight hard to keep it, but you let the others get trampled without a peep.

Still getting it wrong after being schooled.

Shall I continue schooling you?

I've proudly served, and will again if needed, but you see in this country, you remain free to choose. An early morning toast to... Liberty.

Thank your for your service...but Uncle Sam gave you the guns you used.  There wasn't any need for you to bring your own, but it's nice to know that people are fighting for a private citizens right to own pretty much any gun Uncle Sam let you use in a war.

I'm not sure Petey served, and times are tough.  And these terrorists have our own country talking about limiting our weapons.  And this sacred right is worth fighting and dying for....Now - we face a crisis - stop those terrorist so that this inane talk of limiting our weapons stops...and as I understand it, it's better to fight them over there than it is over here.  And we have two choices -take up your arms, head to Syria and go fight the enemy....or call people libtards.  Petey has made his brave decision.   And while he wants to say that he has "schooled" me, it would appear that he didn't know what it was about the Patriot Act that made people uncomfortable.   So I do believe that he has been schooled himself.

My guess is she stayed up all night looking for memes, couldn't find any, and had to default to the usual jabberwocky.

Meanwhile, the 4th continues to get torn down, but they're all knocking each other over to prove to the man who the most lawful is...

If you and the rest want to be taken seriously then defend the 2a as much as you are defending the 4a.

Blaming the right of being lax on 4a, while you yourself and the rest of your liberal ideologues basically want the 2nd wiped clean, is a case of blatant hypocrisy.

But that we are used to.

Feel free to show us the evidence where anyone here said anything remotely close to "basically want the 2a wiped clean."

I am quite sure you will not do that.

Ha, liberals here are constantly saying that the framers never intended the 2a to included scary "assault weapons" rather only muskets etc, reinterpret what "well regulated" and "militia" to some absurd reasoning. Constantly referring to "what Australia did" which was an all out gun ban and confiscation.

So yeah, until you take your righteous indignation about the 4a, and apply it to the 2a, you all can just jam it.

Amazing how liberals divert from said topic to discuss something totally unrelated.

Liberals be like: LOOK SQUIRREL!!!!

OK I get it, you people are trying to turn this into an argument about the fourth amendment, since you lost the argument on the Second Amendment.

townpete said:
Oh please, you liberals also think the 2a is fungible as hell, twisting it into absurdity, waiting for the opportunity to neuter it at every opportunity..
Losing both arguments?

Jam what? My cellphone signal to stop possible bulk collections?

The locks on my car so the police can't just open them & "take a quick look inside?"
