PHL-BDA is now an A333 for the months of June/July/August in 2008.

Ex PHL-SJU A333 1071 and 1024 return flight is will be flown by an Envoy equipped 75W ETOPS.

I find this quite interesting and exciting at the same time. Has BDA ever seen an US Airways A333? Should make for some interesting pics.

Let the discussions commence...

shouldn't you be baking cookies for santa clause?

BDA was the closest over water destination. I would guess. This beast of a 1 day will be the same as SJU just somewhat more tame. Actually one of a few smart moves. Save the pics. I can see over stretched lycra and Sandles Resort people going to MBJ.
Who else flys the 330 into MBJ? That can provide contract maint because you know she will need it. That trip I always go out and rub the nose of the a/c and say "Good Girl Good Girl".

I can't imagine that'll please the crew(s) who often take the A330 PHL-SJU-PHL route because it gives them a good 8+ hours of block time *AND* they get to sleep in their own bed each night. With PHL-BDA, it'll only be about 4.5-5 hrs. Will they fly almost 2x as much or supplement PHL-BDA with some intl. trips?

BDA is only a high yield destination in the Summer. There's nothing tropical about it in the Winter months like the Caribbean. Fares this far out are $402 all in. An A330 full of those fares(and the invariably higher ones that will kick in when the "cheap" ones sell out) will be a profitable flight.

SJU, OTOH, has much lower volume in the Summer which is why we only see 757s and 319s on the route then with fares under $400.

But what about these alleged lucrative cargo deal(s) that was the supposed reason for keeping the A330 on that route year round?

US use to run the 767 from PHL-BDA, full of Cargo, they moved the 330 off the SJU route as it makes up LGW and was taking delays.

That's what made me post this thread. I'm wondering, what happened to that deal. Hopefully it isn't back to AA like it used to be! Didn't check AA scheds, but is there an AA wide body flying PHL-SJU during June/July/Aug? The A333 seems to be back around late Sep. and definitely in the scheds during all of October and for the remainder of 2008(as far as we can see from today by 330 days).

Who moved Bermuda to the Caribbean?

Last I looked it was in the Atlantic Ocean a long way from the Caribbean Sea.

Have you taken World Geography yet?

It must be the "Triangle" theory. Bermuda dissappeared and now showed up a suburb of Havana! Oh No, now US can't fly the route.

Thanks for bringing that up. People mistakenly calling Bermuda a Caribbean island just drives me crazy. Bermuda is actually closer to Canada than it is to the Caribbean Sea. The other one that the geographically-challenged like to throw around is that the Bahamas is a Caribbean destination. The Bahama Islands are also in the Atlantic Ocean and nowhere near the Caribbean Sea.

Just a friendly reminder, folks, no personal insults or comments--this thread is about the A330 routes, not a particular poster.

Thank you.
