What's new

The A330 on PHL-SJU is moved to a different Caribbean destination during Summer 2008.

And who the FXXX cares? This is the dumbest topic I have seen on this board - and there are certainly man stupid things on this board!

Not to worry. In a few days the MODERATOR will come up with a new rule against "stupid things on this board" and start systematically closing down even more threads.

Now please don't tear into Gloria Holtz over this -- she is just the messenger, but I heard speculation among some PIT gals at last weekend's bunco party at Kathy's house that the reason they switched it from SJU to BDA is to cut down on the block time. This will allow the company the block time to add a leg for a daily A330 PHL-PIT-PHL. Apparently the A330 will be for extra seats for commuters or pending a side letter with the AFA, we will keep a small PIT satellite that will only have one trip a PIT-PHL-BDA-PHL-PIT twirl. Now that isn't as nice as a simple west coast turn but at least we wouldn't have to mess around with that commute on WN. WN is really strict about how many bags we can have and they do not board by seniority! Anyways with only 37 years I wouldn't be able to hold it. I am at peace with being a PHL gal now.

Two chances on that being the "real" reason for the change; fat and slim. This is a move to give the 330 more ground time in PHL for mtx and to ensure that the european departure is on time.

If true, that would be so awesome!

Oh my God, like I'd be sooooo stoked. THIS is important? We should paint it in the Giant Eagle livery. 🙄 Gloria would you christen it?

They already have an ugly Stillers plane.

Maybe they could paint it to look like an extinct Bermuda Ern.

That would be visionary.

Or at least post-visionary.

True, and I also heard that they will be serving hot meals (sorry, one choice only; it's all the Union could negotiate!) PHL PIT PHL on the A330 (to PIT commuters only!) to make up for the inconvenience of closing the base. Proof of being based in PIT previously will be required before the stewardess sets down your tray (please have ID readily available; block time is short and it is a large plane....). This is to keep the PHL/CLT/BOS/DCA/LGA employees from riding back and forth for free meals. Company cannot afford that.

So nice.

No ID necessary. Us PIT gals know each other. We have been through marriages, children, mergers, negotiations, bankruptcies, deaths, base closures etc. etc. together for many years. We are family in the 'burgh!

Now as for meals, we wouldn't demand that much. And we wouldn't want to serve them anyways.

No worries on serving the meals; we PHL reserves would be working the flight. Due to the short block time and required PUSH/PULL and coffee service, I anticipate the PIT turn on the A330 going into the reserve book daily. So just settle in and enjoy the fine service.

Why don’t you do it DC-9 style like when row 1 faced aft and there was table mounted in front of row 2?

Make the following PA: “Ladies and gentleman, we are now serving lunch. The chicken is stacked on the table on the right, and the beef is on the left. Please have your drink order ready when you come forward to get your tray.â€￾

Since when does a fare rule supercede geography and the facts?
I didn't say the fare rule superceded geography. I am simply stating the fact of how BDA is classified in the data systems. That doesn't make it right geographically, but that is the way it is.

You mean it isn't 1979 anymore? YIKES I better ditch the earth shoes and bell bottoms. Ouch is that a pick in my hair? I got all my sista's wit me.
