One of the nice things about being a little older than my peers I've worked with 3 x 5 cards and overheads for presentations. I still do my presentations on 3 x 5 cards just in case the technology fails.

there are two words that come to mind here.. (be prepared)

that includes the 3 X 5 cards, graphics, handouts, overheads presentations and current technology and an actual speech/lecture laying directly on the podium to reference...(in case)

if one fails, you can always rely back on something else.
