Hi All,
I talked to DFW admin the other day, and was informed that minor mechanic recalls were taking place all over the system. So I put in some transfer requests, hoping to get lucky...I've been off AA property since 06/05.

So... What's going on out there? MCI/DFW/MIA/ORD/PHX/TPA?? Surely someone has heard something!?

<_< ------Mike, I wish you luck! But if you don't have at least 15 years, forget about MCI, or STL, we still have people on the street with close to that. Crazy! But true!

<_< ------ By the way, What your asking seems to be one of TWU's best kept secrets! Local lay off lists are strictly kept, hush, hush!

Actually you can go to a few locals and get the local RIF lists. Locals that I know of that has posted the truth has been MCI, DFW, AFW, JFK and LAX the rest are all secrets. The lists that have been posted should not be 100% trusted but are close to the truth. The list on DFW site is no longer valid, 100% of the list has been recalled. DFW has now opened up the transfer list and is in the process of getting 8 transfers.

The real secret is the system recall list that is under lock and key by the AA/TWU. AA/TWU is a little afraid of the AMFA boogie man with all there lies back in 2003.

The AMFA boogie man will be sticking its little head up in the next couple weeks over some of these issues.

PS I’m glad to have the TWA guys back at DFW. It’s a small group but great guys.

I've seen a few guys in street clothes and spiffy new green vests at LGA the past week or two, dunno if they're recalls or not.

A couple of DFW Fleet Service Clerks just got recalled back to title I for JFK/LGA this week. They both were way down on the RIF list so either a lot of others turn down the recall or JFK/LGA has recalled a lot of people.

OK, so a few mechanics are being recalled at various locations, thats great!!
But what about the big picture? With Three big maintenance bases, thousands of mechanics, managers and support staff, there should be more BUZZ...!

From what I've heard around 30 guys on the NY recall list have declined recall.

Why would there be a buzz? They still haven't recalled for all those who have left the company over the past few years. These recalls are just for new work. Besides this is not exactly a desirable job anymore.

Any speculation on how many retirements there will be this year at MCI? I guess some people might be waiting for a new contract...Who knows...It would sure be nice to get back on the property. You guys take care... Keep up the good work

You have probably seen that were up in 1988 seniority on the MCI recall list on 530s website. One way in now is through AFW by bidding Aircraft cleaner or parts washer. It keeps your occupational seniority going, restarts your company seniority and will move you up on the transfer lists. Dont know if you understand how all this works but being on the street your transfer requests are basically one step before a new hire. Pays not AMT but if your looking for a career here it seems you have to play the game. They are getting ready to hire from the street AC cleaners and once they get there 6 months in they will be ahead of the furloughed mechanics on the transfer list. Cool system  If your willing I suggest bid Parts washer AFW they work 4 10s at Taesl. Aircraft cleaner AFW will get you in the door sooner and they work 5 8s but there good about CS's. Good luck.

<_< ------FRMR12B Is pretty much on the mark. Although I've talked to one AMT, just returned, with a mid 1989 adjusted date. They are right in the middle of calling back thirty people here at MCI (not all AMT's) I feel more will be coming, but no word on numbers yet! As for retirement's, it's anyones guess. But the committee is anticipating as many as ninety by the end of the year! A lot depends on the outcome of negotiations, or lack there of!
