too many whites, men leading military

Does anyone know what the make up of the military as a whole is?

Holy Mother of God!

Now we're going to add Political Correctness into the military. No doubt quotas and/or Affirmative Action will be next.

The ONLY requirement to be an Officer should be your performance on the field of battle as compared to those of similar rank and experience.

Good God if we raised these issues during WWII, Patton (Actually he'd have been replaced due to the fact he'd be 108 years old) still be in the Freaking Ardenne Forest.

This has nothing to do with PC in my opinion. I think it has more to do with bias and equal representation. I do not see way if there are 10% blacks in the military that the same percentage should not be reflected in leadership positions. I assume that they are only hiring qualified people to begin with so I would think the promotion rate should be similar across the board. If it is not then their might be a problem.

I also think to assume that sexism and racism are not a factor is a bit naive. Women still make less than men for the same job. A black man in a nice car is more likely to be stopped by the police than a white man. I have no idea how much of the discrepancy is based on bias verses something else but I believe it is a factor.

The vast majority of officers either went the ROTC route or joined after college as officers. Comparing them to the emlisted ranks is meaningless, maybe better to compare them to college gradutes as a whole.

The military has never been known for atTracting a high percentage of women. Just like nursing and and elementary school education are not known for their high percentage of men. Does it make those professions are sexist? No it does not. The PC crowd over at the DOD could focus their entire recuiting budget on getting more women in the military. My guess is the increase would be negligible.

I guess I was not clear. I did not mean to say that the population in the military had to reflect the population as a whole. My intent was to say that the population in the military in general should reflect the population of the command structure to a certain degree. If the population of women in the military is 20% then women in command should be close to that 20% point as well. If not, it seems that there might be something wrong with the promotion/leadership process.

There seem to be certain areas that are still the domain of the white male. I believe the numbers are changing, albeit slowly and eventually, equality will e achieved in reality and not just o paper.

It should reflect the population of college graduates, not race or sex
, if that is a prereq for command...

I think it should reflect the quality and qualifications of the person.......period.....no matter what sex or race.

That would be hard considering almost 60% of all college graduates are women now.

If our Military is to remain the greatest killing machine known to history it must remain a meritocracy.

Their current job is to travel to far and distant lands, meet the local population and KILL them, pure & simple. This ain't no party, this ain't no disco, this ain't no fooling around.

Our Military must remain independent of the social engineers and the builders of Little Billy's self esteem. Want to talk about self esteem how about the kid that earns the Congressional Medal of Honor and lives to tell about it.

With Ship of Fools in the White House we'll have to give out 3 medals. One for the white kid who actually earned it and another so little Sally won't be upset and finally let's not forget those of color, after all we can't upset anyone lest there feelings get hurt.

A few years back I had an ex Army Ranger in my Sales Training class named Scott G. I asked him after 12 years in why he didn't stick around to get the pension and this is what he told me. "I got sick and tired of Bill Clinton's @#$%%^&& Soccer Mom Army" and he went on to explain that he actually got a phone call routed through his superiors from a Mother who demanded to know why he was so "harsh" to her son during boot camp. Scott was his drill instructor.

You can't make up a story like that and that's exactly where we are headed with the head moron Obama in charge. My motto is "Kill'em all, Let God Sort'em Out"
