Top 10 reasons

The Pope's speech quoted from a book recounting a conversation between 14th century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos II and an educated Persian on the truths of Christianity and Islam.

"The emperor comes to speak about the issue of jihad, holy war," the Pope said.

"He said, I quote, 'Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached'."

Benedict described the phrases on Islam as "brusque", while neither explicitly agreeing with nor repudiating them.

How does this "peace loving" religion respond?

By burning effigies of the Pope, Setting fire to christian churches througout the Muslim world, And killing a Nun in Somalia.

Imagine that, Islam being called a religion that is spread by the sword!

Different name same game since the fall.

The Church of Satan , Church of the Lost, Church of the Confused, Church of the Deceived, Church of Anger and Hatred, these names are all fitting, because they are very true. If the Pope would have really spoken out we would all see scorched earth, literally.

They worship, but not the God of Love.

The Pope did speak out.
Put his ass on the line by doing so.
Did you miss it?

And He proved there is no acknowledgement of truth or freedom of speech in the Islamic world.....go ask Salmon Rushdie...

The Pope knew what he was doing -- his speeches are carefully prepared and not just scribbled on the back of envelope.

Well said Benedict!!

Show me an example of where Islamic extremists have have demonstrated compassion in this world.

Where have they nurtured or created value?

Every time I watch these bulging-eye, waving-arm Muslim demonstrators demanding an apology I've got to ask:

"do any of them have a real job?"

Pope Benedict quoted from a 14th-century Byzantine emperor, Manuel II Paleologos.

"The emperor comes to speak about the issue of jihad, holy war," the pope said. "He said, I quote, 'Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.'"

"The emperor goes on to explain in detail the reasons why spreading the faith through violence is something unreasonable," Benedict said.

"Violence is incompatible with the nature of God and the nature of the soul," the pope said.

Of course those in the world trying to whip this into a frenzy left this part out.

I have a message for Muslims that want to kill those that worship the cross. I am one of the cross worshipers and based on the Quran you must cut off my head. My message to you.....Bring it on Big Boy! Can't wait to meet you. Be sure to bring a big knife....
Love Aero.

Muhammad used to send letters to the kings and leaders of the surrounding countries and tribes, inviting them to surrender to his authority and to believe in him as the messenger of Allah. He always ended his letters with the following two words: "Aslem, Taslam!". Although these two words are derived from the same infinitive Salama which is the root of Salam, i.e. ‘Peace’, neither one of them implies the meaning of ‘peace’. The sentence means ‘surrender and you will be safe’, or in other words, ‘surrender or face death’. So where is the meaning of ‘Peace’ in such a religion that threatens to kill other people if they don't submit to it?
