This is a good thing that Hostess went down. just think of all the little fat kids that were saved from a life of obesity, and all the healthcare money we will have saved.

If the US Federal Government sets its sights on you, you're toast! Even if you win in court you lose at the bank as you are now broke from defending yourself. Don't believe me? Check out IRS v. Lojeski for proof.

By way of full disclosure I went to High School with Ms Lojeski's younger sister.

Nor do they!

For instance, i can mail you a letter with your name to your neighbors house with your correct adress in the return area and you will get it.

I can even put it in a publishers clearing house envelope!

Sux for ms Lojenski. She should have stayed off the grid and put the cash in a safe deposit box. Or someone elses safe deposit box. Hard to track. Gov't tracks all transfers over $9999.99 between individuals. Banks will make phone calls to check for fraud.

Now they do! Now that we're fighting Twerrowism. Those laws didn't exist back then. As to being "Off the Grid" it's hard to be totally off of it but you can get partially off the grid in several ways.

What these tyranical thugs put Shirley through was unbelievable. Her kid sister lived in fear they would come for her parents too. Trust me RDU if they want you, you're had.

And what does this have to do with Hostess?

Way off topic here.

You know, the planned on liquidating back in July. It's convenient to blame it on the unions though.

http://management.fortune.cnn.com/2012/07/26/hostess-twinkies-bankrupt/ This link has a pretty nice history of hostess. Interesting points to note
  • After first bankrutpcy, Brembo and the Teamsters made an offer of $580 million. It was turned down
  • Instead venture capital put in $130 million and labor gave $110 million in concessions
  • "Savior" loaded it up with $680 million in debt - to emerge...more than it had going in.
So they started out really great. There is WAY more to this story than "unions are the bane of American civilization"

They can have me! Part of my retirement plan includes the federal penn.

Free food, healthcare . I think it will be better than any assisted living place I can afford.

1. It's always the company's fault !
2. NW mechanics................remember them by any chance ?
3. Boeing.............yeah, if the union had just kept their nose out of company business, those peeps getting laid off, might have been able to go to S.C. and work for, guess who.................. Boeing !
4. Hostess............have you gone down the snack aisle................looks like a booming industry to me !
5. USPS, called keeping up with the times, UPS and Fed Ex also have the internet !
#1 reason the USPS is broke:
"USPS owes $5.5 billion to fund future retirees' health benefits"

And since I believe the majority of USPS workers, probably voted for Barrack, I say wipe out that neg. $5.5 in health benefits out and tell 'em to purchase ObamaCare, on their dime !

1)Having worked for AA as long as I did I think I have a better insight to the problems they are having than you.
2)Once again you don't let facts get in your way. The mechanics strike had nothing to do with the BK filling. NWA was going to do it regardless.
3)There's nothing stopping someone who gets laid off at BDS from getting a job with BCA in places like Charelston, Renton, Everett, Fredrickson etc. But don't let that fact get in your way.
4)You did'nt answer the question, when was the last time you bought a Hostess product.
5)Back in the day before the internet how did people pay bills, send letters or birthday cards to other people? They sure as heck did'nt do it with Fed Ex or UPS. And now how do people do those things, the internet.

The union is a symptom of the disease of bad management.

Let me add to that a compnay that has a union on property usually did something to deserve it. Or a company that's not getting along with it's unions does not have a labor problem, it has a management problem.

You're right of course! I was trying to be eloquent.

The bakers were correct. The Teamsters' imposed work rules that not only prevented drivers from helping to load their own trucks (admittedly not such an unusual practice in trucking delivery operations) but also specified that Wonder Bread and Twinkies could not ride together in the same truck. Also a separate worker (arriving at the destination store in a separate vehicle) was required to move the baked goods from the storage area to the shelf.

Logistics broke Hostess.

If you scratch the surface of a Management/Labor dispute you often find that the real culprit is as you mentioned work rules. Work rules destroyed the US Steel industy when clause 2b was introduced into the Master contract. The clause was essentially a past practices clause. Thi led to the simple task of changing a belt on a motor to be done by a total of three people. An Electrian to turn off the power, A mechanic to remove and replace the belt, a laborer to fetch said belt and the electrican to restore power. Truth is you could have paid all three Min. wage and the company would not be profitable.

This is where I do blame unions. They want dues and the only way to keep the revenue stream is to have as many people employed as possible even if it means they have sealed the fate of those employees to future unemployment.
