Two Nwa Planes Go "bump"

Truly amazing photo. I am glad no injuries are life threatening. I was wondering about how much damage was done to the Airbus? Thanks in advance........

It is an amazing photo. I'm still trying to create a mental picture of how the planes were moving such that the DC9 ended up underneath both the wing and the rear fuselage of the Airbus. My best guess is it must have hit the Airbus wing with enough force that it pushed the Airbus around (presumable with tow tug attached) until the rear fuselage impacted. Must have been some impact. Very lucky more people weren't injured.

Can anyone explain the mechanics of the impact?

Northwest is SUCH a trustworthy airline, isn't it?

Might I suggest you expend your energies into researching the the calibre of current NW pilots? Seems to be a bit lacking, don't you think?

Don't ask me, just ask any of the passengers on either of those planes.

Let THEM tell you what they think.

Bring earplugs.

Gee, what an intelligent adult reply. From someone who represents and IS NW.

Look at the photo again, Bonehead. And as I said, ask the passengers and all the people they'll tell their story to.

I'm sure your snappy idiotic alien comments would show them what an intelligent bunch of employees NW has.

How pathetic and childish.

Umm, the other plane was kinda' large. Was their windshield too dirty? They didn't see it?

Or did they just not expect to another airplane to be parked at an airport?

There is NO excuse for this kind of irresponsibility.. Well, only one.

Accept it.

It's good to see you no longer attempting to hide behind your pathetic charade of pretended concern for aviation safety and displaying your obvious anti-NWA agenda for all to see.

Did your medication wear off, or was it perhaps that the electroshock therapy was too much for your already-diminished mental capacity?

Again, your posts contain no facts, only insults and slanders, and contribute nothing to the discussion.

Get as worked up as you like - we're laughing at you and will only laugh harder. No amount of cutsie little images in your posts will change that!

Northwest Airlines did not cause this accident. The two pilots did. As we all know accidents are caused when more than one person makes a mistake. It's kind of like an ocean liner coming toward a slow or stationary sailboat. He must give way, maneuver or stop because the stationary object cannot move fast enough. In this case the captain pilots made the first mistake by not stopping and requesting a tow. The second mistake was the first officer who didn’t use his head either. Accumulator pressure is only good for 4-6 brake applications.

I never said it did. In fact I was replying to someone who did say that.

As for the rest, I would prefer to wait until the investigation is complete before we begin prosecuting anyone. I'm just glad that no one was seriously injured and feel bad for those who were injured and for all of those who were involved.

Thank you Bill. He is not adding anything but hatred and bitterness to any page. I would like to see this guy banned! This should be a site of professionalism and facts instead of hatred.

I always assumed that "TC" wasn't a guy but a woman. Not that it matters...

Does anyone know how the crew is doing? I understand that no pax were injured. That is the most important thing. The planes can be repaired. Safe flying all.

They lost hydraulics? No way, not on AMFA's watch. They are the real "mechanics"

Yes way. Hydraulics sometimes fail. And this accident wasn't, as has been pointed out above, the mechanics fault. Pilot error played a LARGE part.

And yes, the mechanics that were working then were the "real" mechanics.

Had the "REAL MECHANICS" done their jobs the pilot would have never been put in the situation to screw up to begin with.
