I received a card from STS services begging for aircraft mechanics in Dothan,Alabama. I believe this is for the PIMPCO third party facility there. They want contractors for $28.50 an hour. The only reason STS would pay that much is if they needed a scab labor force and FAST! The mechanics at U.S.Air should have walked last week! All they did was give U.S.Air time to get scabs in place before Jan.21!

When a few "lawn darts" hit the ground because of Unlicensed,Unqualified, people working at these "chop shops" you'll see why I'm concerned!

Actually if the final offer is ratified the A320 family A/C will be leaving ST MAE and coming back in-house.

Actually, ITRADE, that's a testiment to the reliability and redundancy built into the aircraft than it is a testiment to the lowest bidder maintenance.

Until the day that B-1900 crashed in CLT, anyone could have said "I haven't heard of any B-1900's crashing because of misrigged control cables."

Don't hold your breath. The company loves to promise.

No decision has been made on what if any maintenance facilities
will remain open or be closed. That is directly from the companies
spokesman.

And contractors are not scabs. Only if they cross a picket line.

If you read the final offer both CLT and PIT Base MTC will remain open.

Crashing? No, but I'm quite sure that 700UW has a very interesting picture of a UAL nosegear that kind of collapsed after being worked on by the fine folks in Alabama.

Exactly, Itrade uses the fear tactics.. the same one others acuse management of using.. Sad but true

ITRADE's the kind snob-elitist that will slam the warnings and dismiss the working guy's opinion as irrelevant, then be the first one in line to sue somebody when the worst comes true.

700, I was just sitting here wondering WHY does an airline the size of Usairways need TWO maintence bases !! I can't help but think that the membership gave away some $$$ for the right to keep CLT & PIT open to Maintence work ! I don't care which city you close down,, But close down ONE !

Whatever happened to common sense ?? The company is sitting back laughing at this ignorance..

Because one facility is not large enough with the amount of work that will be done in-house.
