..........I should rephrase that, MOST of it was gone by the early to mid nineties. Ice creams in "coach", transcon left in the mid-90's. OJ/Wine for boarding, also gone. Hot towels in COACH? I dont remember serving those in COACH until 9-11. HOT MEALS disappeared to florida wayyyy prior to 9-11. All the Texas routes as well. LGA-PIT used to have a genie tray in the 80's. Meals to Kansas City, Midwest. Gone way before 9-11. Even went to box snacks for many years prior to going to peanuts ONLY.
USAir needed cash in the early 90's and they hooked up with British Airways. The financial situation of U caused them to reduce SERVICE in the early to mid 90's.

May have trouble remembering some 20 to 30 years ago, Twice. But a clue, I have a clue.

only stating opinions.

Ok, I am not Bob, but agree... US Airways did not just take the worst from both, but they then went below that. They paint the outside of planes, but leave the interior as crappy as always. There are many planes that need more than reduced pitch, they need cleaning and new seating.

Seriously, US AIRWAYS (management) screws everyone for 5 days on the cutover, but did not even offer everyone flying those days double miles or 1000 miles bonuses to say "sorry for the pain". This management team cares too much about their bottom line to think long term, caring a bit more about passengers and employees will make them much more profitable in the long-run!

The only pattern I see here, is a series of pathetic posts from someone who will never be happy as a passenger on US and feels that as long as "he" is miserable, he better drag the rest down with him.

If you don't have anything good to say....please stop. Try to post some of the positive things now and then......and don't say theren't aren't any, because that would just re-inforce your ridiculous comments that are always self absorbed.

Dinosaur?.....sheesh, are we supposed to apologize for our commitment and longevity to this company now?

only stating opinions
I know that you're not a dinosaur Shuttle girl, they wouldn't have a clue as to what you are talking about...they only fly Shuttle! But they can tell you the names of our most frequent flyers, what they drink, and which shuttle they prefer! You're a wee baby compared to Betty, Ellen, Joan...50, 49, 48 years.

Be more specific next time!!lol

This I will agree on!!

Having just viewed the new USAirways uniforms on the US AFA website, all I can say is, what a disappointment. They look like something off of a J.C. Penny's rack. The colors of the new USAirways are red, white, and blue, yet the new uniforms have traces of teal (dated) and orange. Perhaps I can understand having one accessory reflecting the airline's heritage roots, but ALL of the accessories have these colors. The one piece that actually looked somewhat palatable was the zip up dress that the African-American girl was sporting. (She had the right heels...and figure...to pull off the look). The color of the garment just seemed wrong. The zip up dress would look far better in a dark navy color, accented with a scarf that doesn't have traces of teal and orange. Choosing a model who is overweight does little to enhance a new look that is about to be introduced (the bald male). Has anybody informed Stan Herman that 2-buttoned blazers are dated? If you ever traverse through airport terminals around the globe (read Asia, Europe, the Middle East, or South America), one will see that male flight attendants typically sport blazers that have three buttons down the front, not two. Two buttoned-blazers have been pretty passe for some time now. No offense, but the uniforms do little to achieve a "world class" look. The new digs look very provincial. Delta got it right: A true world class look. Something for everyone: young, old, fat, and slim...with lots of options and nice accessories (hats for international). The new USAirways look looks unsophisticated. In the words of Sky High, "Only stating opinions." Over and out...

     They are cheap knock off's of the Ralph Lauren TWA uniforms - in its day a classic. Ive seen them up-close and personal and they look like bad waiter/waitress uniforms at a cheap French restaurant. That dress...maybe if ur 5'9" 120 lbs...news flash 😛 😛 that's less than 1% of Delta's f/as. People serving drink, cleaning airplanes and picking up trash should wear functional, stylish and comfortable clothing. Delta thinks is reinventing the past- get real it's 2007 not 1967!! Once again another blunder from good o'l DELDA!

They are NOT cheap knock-offs. They were designed by the Australian designer, Richard Tyler. Furthermore, I have seen Delta's F/As all over the system, sporting different components, and have to say they look great. I saw a very seasoned Delta crew recently, and they were very well put together. The ladies in their hats really elevate the appearance of the new look. Delta has raised the bar when it comes to airline uniforms in the USA...

As a customer I think a uniform needs to be rwo things.

FIRST and in my mind foremost is employee comfort. More comfortable uniform, happier employee equals better service.

SECOND and nearly equal is a sharp crisp appearance, Sorta like the old Gillette Look Sharp, Be Sharp, Feel Sharp commercials way long years ago.

The uniforms based on what I've seen the new uniforms seem to address the above fairly well.

Bob,

Some people are NEVER happy. Unlike delta, US Airways wanted a business casual look...something NO other airline has had. I think Stan did a great job. I am positive our uniforms would had been glamerous if that is what the company had wanted but they didn't choose that route.

My choices?
Winter.....
Jacket and mock crew for TA and when I know I'm in FC.
Casual markets mock crew with sweeter.
Summer...
dress shortsleeve shirts with jacket and tie for TA
white/blue shirt for casual markets.

Delta's approach is to BE a glamerous airline. Our approach is one step above SWA.
Had people taken the time to actually attend a uniform roadshow instead of looking at poor pics and biitching, they may get it. Oh, I know, fill in the blank excuse. Who cares? Those people wouldn't be happy if Jesus Christ himself designed them. B)

So what happens when the majority of your customers and employees find the "business casual" brand embarrassing and uncompetititive? Just because it worked when your only competitor was a low cost domestic airline, doesn't mean it works around the world. It has also alienated many of the companys employees who are embarrassed to admit who they work for because the product and the frequent screwups have made US a joke.

This airline kills me. It wants to enter the Asia market with cramped seating, a dud reservation system, no amenities, and cabin crew in gym warm-ups and skorts.

There is NOTHING inherently wrong with business casual.

The uniforms need to relect the marketing message of the company. If the company is positioning itself between UA and SWA then I think the uniforms serve the stated purpose.
Iam just saying this man is at a major marketing event, and a little to casual.

Needs to improve his image.

Hire Joe Montana's wife to model and design them.
