US Airways and TAP Air Portugal file with DOT to Codeshare

US Airways and TAP Air Portugal have filed with the DOT to begin codesharing.

TAP Air Portugal is a fellow member of the Star Alliance. US Airways already codeshares with Star members United, Lufthansa, bmi, and Spanair. US also codeshares with Lufthansa partners Air One, Eurowings, and Air Dolomiti, and GoCaribbean network members Bahamasair, Caribbean Sun, and WINAIR.

The initial US Airways-operated routes that TAP Air Portugal will place its "TP*" code on are:
PHL-LIS
PHL-CDG/FRA
PHL-ATL/BOS/DCA/DEN/DFW/DTW/IAH/LAX/MCO/MIA/SFO
EWR-CLT/PIT

The initial TAP Air Portugal-operated routes that US Airways will place its "US*" code on are:
EWR-LIS/OPO
LIS-FAO/FNC/HOR/OPO/PDL/PIX/PXO/TER
LIS-AMS/ARN/CDG/FCO/FRA/MUC/MXP/VCE
LIS-BLQ/BRU/CPH/GVA/LUX/OSL/PRG/TRN/ZRH
LIS-DKR/SID/MPM

This will give US Airways customers new access to a number of domestic cities in Portugal and several cities in Africa, along with daily, year-round access to Lisbon, and additional options to a number of European cities already served by US metal and/or US* codeshares. It will give TAP Air Portugal customers new access to Philadelphia from three European gateways, and additional connecting access to a number of U.S. domestic cities connecting over Philadelphia, as well as access to Charlotte and Pittsburgh connecting via TAP Air Portugal's transatlantic flights to Newark.

The application is available at http://dmses.dot.gov/docimages/pdf96/396510_web.pdf, along with full names for all of the cities in the codeshare, some of which have obscure city codes.

Don't expect a press release from Tempe, as this has nothing to do with PHX.
