US Airways Makes it PHL-Shanghai Route

I hope I'm not mistaken, but are we still considered legacy after what dougie did?

"If Delta gets the 2008 route, then US Airways will make a strong case in 2009, since Philadelphia will be the biggest U.S. city without nonstop China service and US Airways will be the only surviving legacy carrier with no China routes."

DP really does believe that you can transfer a regional airline mentality to the operation of an international carrier. 🙄

The article just came out about 45 minutes ago. When did US ever mention city pairings? it was just impied what routes would be made, now Tempe made a statement. Tempe should have released it via their own news release, but I think they don't know how to do that, so they get the media to write a story.

This article is late if it just came out a few hours ago. All of this was discussed with the Media on Media Day in Tempe last week. It's an annual event that America West began. The A340, Boeing/Airbus deal, earnings, PHL and all of this was open for discussion with the Media from all aviation outlets.

OK, I must of missed that 😳 😳

"The old US Airways began to fix the problems but was hampered by a lack of money. The new US Airways spent nearly $3 million to upgrade its facilities and equipment at the Philadelphia airport in 2006 and says it will spend more than $4 million in 2007 and about $20 million in 2008." --- from The Street article

$3 million in 2006 and $4 million in 2007 is nothing. No wonder there has been no discernible improvement. $7 million over two years would hardly cover the bribes!

Ed Colodny developed that concept 20 years ago. And it still works just the same.

If DL gets the 2008 award, I think we might see AA(with LR-777-200"s) applying to Fly JFK/PEK, which would make it the FIRST US carrier offering service from a NY(state) Airport.
