With no deal, US Airways workers worry
US Airways: Should a hub remain at Pittsburgh, we see the mainline operations being about what it is today, but growth in the operation being from regional jets
PITTSBURGH (Tribune-Review) - US Airways employees fear the airline will bully state leaders into accepting an agreement that would strip the big jet hub at Pittsburgh International Airport and transform it into a smaller regional service with fewer flights and lower-paying jobs.

Just what Pit needs......more $7 hr jobs!!!!! That sure will help the local economy!

The proposal by the PA states min. of 150 mainline flights daily. We are down to 139. They would have to bump it up.

They better secure a committment from this management for 150 or U can go pound salt with their Substandard wage airline.

As a resident of PA, and Allegheny County, I want my tax dollars to secure an airline who keeps "livable wage" jobs. Otherwise its moot.

Since U has their hand out to the gov. for all these improvements for their business from both airports, then they need to give some compromises to the Pittsburgh community. Does not make sound financial sense for PA to shell out million and millions of dollars to keep U here, along with the tax relief they seek, in the form of some return on that huge tax payer "give", if there are no "livable wage" jobs on mailine saved. These are the folks who pay higher income taxes, wage taxes, and sales taxes and real estate taxes that directly go into the PA koffers, with every single pay check, as opposed to folks who make substantially lower wages in a regional carrier.

Livable wage jobs are good for the local economy VS. a substandard wage or "existence".
