It was Kennedy's war, and Dicky racked up a lot of those casualties in his own very enthusiastic escalation of it

Very small excuse, or consolation, but at least lbj wss reluctant rather than eager

LBJ was the one that got the ball rolling in Vietnam.

I'm sure that's comfort to the 4000+ families.
Yes I'm sure there is , since BaRack gave up everything these hero's gave their lives for, by walking out and handing it over to Isis!

W creayed and signed off on the withdrawal from Iraq

W also signed off on the ill-fated, as in colossal failure of an invasion and occupation.

W's failed experiment in democracy-exporting disguised as fighting terror actually gave birth to and nurtured ISIS, by creating and sustaining the anarchy in Iraq needed for it to grow.

W's failed experiment in Iraq helped to fuel events in Syria, where IS finally matured.

W failed to secure a Status of Forces Agreement needed to leave any significant presence in Iraq.

All O did was get stuck witht the task of cleaning W's mess, in every area from Afghanistan to AQ, to Eastern Europe and Russia, to the economy to Iraq to Syria to... Everything King (George...) Midas in Reverse screwed up.

W also forgot to have the US Congress vote on a formal Declaration of War. This should be mandatory before sending one US life into harms way.

"The Kennedy administration remained essentially committed to the Cold War foreign policy inherited from the Truman and Eisenhower administrations. In 1961, the U.S. had 50,000 troops based in Korea, and Kennedy faced a three-part crisis – the failure of the Bay of Pigs Invasion, the construction of the Berlin Wall, and a negotiated settlement between the pro-Western government of Laos and the Pathet Lao communist movement.[153] These crises made Kennedy believe that another failure on the part of the United States to gain control and stop communist expansion would fatally damage U.S. credibility with its allies and his own reputation.

Kennedy was thus determined to "draw a line in the sand" and prevent a communist victory in Vietnam. He told James Reston of The New York Times immediately after his Vienna meeting with Khrushchev, "Now we have a problem making our power credible and Vietnam looks like the place."[154][155]"

Yes, that reference is from Wiki
It is easier to cite/quote than books, but that can be done
Note JFK's "..Viet Nam looks like the place" quote at the end.

Now we have religious zealots like Huckabee and Cruz and amateurs like Trump and Co saying essentially the same thing about Iran...

Don't worry. They can do it the right way this time. It's all good.

no reason to be concerned after all Obama's done such a great job so far

Actually, it is refreshing to hear someone from the right admit to that.

Not by any means perfect, maybe not even really "great", but certainly "pretty damn good".

Yes, especially considering the absolute disaster that he inherited from W and his NeoCon buddies.
