Does anyone know if this is possible, or what we would have to protect us from this, if anything? They have 26,000 flight attendants according to AFA.

What we have protecting us is AFA constitution and bilaws. Never happen. Both flight attendant groups are AFA. DOH baby all the way.

ahh read your constitution and bi-laws in your contract. . the seniority lists will be implemented date of hire. any afa carrier that merges with another afa carrier or non afa carrier will merge sniorities by doh. and who's to say united will be buying out usairways? it could go the other way around or just an actual merger.

Not to mention stapling is illegal now after congress passed a law back in December 2007.

Okay, thanks everyone. Had a flight attendant on a flight today trying to cause a stink, and I didn't think it was possible, but seeing as you all have been through these things before, you would know more than me.

the one thing that is worrysome is that AA has a different f/a and Pilot union... so they could possibly Staple... don't know if the AFA could
protect that if going w/ a different union??

anyone know how that works w/ the two different f/a unions....

Either that F/A was indeed just trying to cause a stink (was it a UA F/A?) or someone unfamiliar with AFA rules about seniority integration.

Nope, the big bad stAApler has been put away by Congress. They passed a law in 2007 to prevent what happened to TWA'ers at AA from happening again. Although since AA technically just bought TWA's assests out of Ch.7 liquidation, I'm not sure this new law would apply. But in the case of a merger, by federal law it is now DOH.

Get a clue.

Next someone wil roll out the old "it's different because it's an aquisition/takeover not a merger" line. Read your by-laws people it's DOH regardless.

And hostile takeover? You can't rape the willing.

UAL777 the law passed in December 2007 does not guarantee DOH it only provides for Fair and Equitable intergration not straight DOH

Thanks for the info... I can just see the MEC's and lawyers having a field day with "fair and equitable" integration. What it won't allow is the stAApler. What it will allow? Well I think we may just find out...
