It has already been well documented that U's Maintenance, Labor, and Depreciation costs are actually LESS than SWA's. That tells me that the employees at U have been beat-up enough already. It's time for the big boys to anti-up or shut-up with a REAL business plan that does NOT involve more givebacks by the labor force. We can see right through all the creative number crunching and same old "negotiate consessions from labor" cries.

Please, please, please don't bore us to death with the whining that Siegel was so addicted too. Let's grow some B*LLS US Airways!!!

Here's a quote from the article that the table below (excuse the formatting) comes from:

Through the bankruptcy process, US Airways restructured their labor agreements to a point where they now enjoy a labor cost advantage to Southwest Airlines.

The increased productivity from renegotiated labor contracts with their mechanics now provides US Airways a maintenance cost advantage to Southwest Airlines as well.

Cost as a Percentage of Revenue: US Airways Southwest US Airways (Dis)advantage Maintenance 5.4 6.9 1.5
Labor 37.0 38.7 1.7
Depreciation 3.0 6.3 3.3

Aircraft Rentals 5.9 3.0 (2.9)
