What's new

U's new Children's reading program

If you are all so philanthropic go and volunteer for a charity on your own, not representing US Airways. You serve the charity and are not doing exactly what this management wants, to make THEM look good not you. If they truly cared about the welfare of people, they would start with their own employees. By doing any type of volunteer work that they organize, you are just making them look like the "model" corporation they want to look like but don't want to make any effort to become.

Oh and by the way, before everyone starts flaming me, I do volunteer. In fact I volunteer at least two days every week to local charities but I do so because it is the right thing to do, not to make US Airways look better.
My sentiments EXACTLY! I take NO Issue with people getting involved within their communities.....afterall a community is only as strong as its inhabitants. I was encouraged from my childhood days to GIVE BACK to those less fortunate and be charitable to others. Where I take offense is THIS Company flaunting itself as some Politically Correct, Social Conscience Trailblazing Corporation that in actually operates a Gulag that treats its employees with contempt and as a liability, and its customers as a pain-in-the-arsce. I have NO PROBLEM CALLING THEM OUT.......who in the Hell are YOU kidding anyways? What next? Some clown (and there are many to choose from) will decide to launch a campaign to save aluminum pop tabs to create a fund to purchase sun visors and sun glasses for the penguins in Antartica due to the polar ice cap melting?

Corporations are in business for only ONE reason and that is to maximize shareholders return on investment (ROI), they exist for no other reason.

If like WN they choose to pay their people well and provide a positive work environment it is only because their philosophy dictates that the above is the best way to maximize ROI, nothing more, nothing less it's just business.

When a management team loses the credibility and trust of their Employees & Customers everything becomes suspect. This manifests itself in the legal concept of "False In One False In All".

So you'll pardon me if I question their motives, intentions & timing of anything positive.

I read both of your posts, and you have a "heart that is 2 sizes too small"
Regards

Allow me to share if I may? My Employer has a similar program to the "Do Crew" only our efforts tend to be on the environmental side of the do gooder fence. Our "do crew" which BTW don't have a catchy name has done such a good job with environmental projects that our USA operations decided to go for the ISO 14001 certification which the company funded. Much of the effort to become certified was done on a volunter basis.

Why would employees do this? Help a Company on their own time? Because they trust the management not to screw them. If preaching the gospel of Truth, honesty, trustworthyness & credibility are a "Personal Agenda" then rest assured I'm guilty as charged and I eagerly await the consequences of my actions.

After nearly three years of merger we've seen a list to long to rehash of blunder after blunder that continues to this very day. Trust, in business and in my personal life are paramount. Without trust as the foundation, relationships are built upon shifting sand. I truly applaud the efforts of the "Do-Crew" on this very worthwhile program, Sadly however and I am truely saddened it all just feels like so much window dressing. I wish it didn't.
i respect your reply and i totally see your side of things piney.
