US Pilots Labor Thread 2/9-2/16

Why, after lo these many months, has USAPA decided to have an election for national officers concurrent with local reps?

Maybe because our constitution required elections.

Could it be that USAPA doesn't want the west to get too organized and put up a candidate for president? Could it be that someone like LeCarre could develop a following among east pilots and in concert with west pilots, threaten the choke hold that the USAPA insiders currently enjoy?

With 100+/- votes? If LeCarre or any West member ever had a chance for National office election, his recent misrepresentations and attacks put an end to it.

Why no provision for "write-in" (or it's electronic equivalent) candidates?

Why not spend $15,000 for a mail-in ballot? If you think USAPA is violating Federal Law, then file a complaint with the ultimate overseer of the elections, the NMB.

You got this angry westie pegged right, Gunther. Clear has been spewing his brand of commentary ever since ALPO got voted off the island. Wouldn't be surprised if hes one of LeCarres ghost writers. Maybe hes getting pressure from his group or just using his right to issue updates to campaign. Heres some more of LeCarre exposed. Again, with permission. With resolutions like this, I hope he doesnt get a second.

I like Cleardirect's post. Sometimes they are too long, other times they are too many, but in general Clear is more on target than most and definitely more informed than I.

As to LeCarre's ghost writers, not sure he has any. But I do have a question.

Has anyone out east considered the possibility that Brice's resolution regarding the Cactus 18 had the best intrest of USAPA as its motivation?
Ever given any thought to the idea that since Brice is West and closer to the 18, that he may have a better view of the massive pile of BS building over USAPA's head and he is trying to help you out from under it, knowing that if it falls it will be much harder to clean up later.

Many on the west mention the Nic, but do not mention the conflict of interest displayed by alpa and the nic not following alpa merger policy.

What is rarely mentioned are the firewalls inherit in the transition agreement. USAPA's victory was solidified by the distrust in alpa and that they would not honor the firewall provisions.

Thanks for the link. It was refreshing to once again here the drumbeat of fear, ridicule, and condescension. Now whenever I get the shakes and am experiencing withdrawal symptoms, I know where to get my fix.

The attorney for USAPA, Mr. Seham, has been instrumental in keeping the unfair nic award off the USairways property for almost two years.

The alpa commercial below blames him for the b scale that the american airlines pilot voted in. Make no mistake about it, american pilots were the first to sell out the future pilots by a vote, Mr Seham had nothing to with it besides being part of their legal representation.

They also mentioned his work for the IACP, the independent association of continental pilots. Ironically, the present head of alpa was at that time vp of the IACP and was ok with Mr. Sehams work back then.

Mr. Seham is well worth his fee and is being demonized by those who fear him. He is only providing excellent counsel for those who he represents.

Sharks in The Water or is this the process of natural selection

And keeping the east working under LOA93.

Excellent counsel?!? Just what exactly has he done again?

Has anyone out east considered the possibility that Brice's resolution regarding the Cactus 18 had the best intrest of USAPA as its motivation?

No. Brice has made it clear that he represents the west interests. I have considered that his motivations may be in both of our best interests as it applies to the C18 lawsuit.

It is clear to me that it was the goal of some west pilots to run USAPA into the ground and that some took action to do that, but I think most of those actions has stopped. I would have liked USAPA to take the high ground and drop the suit. Many on the east feel like they have to have some small token from the west to put this behind us.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt until he put out updates to 'fellow america west pilots'.

Old habits, possibly?

Anyway, future updates may be addressed the same way or Brice may see some irratation it causes you and address the West with a different title. Does the West have a council number? Perhaps he could use that.

But while on this topic the West feeling is that in many ways we still work for AWA just as the East seems to think they still work for AAA.

We still see AWA on our paychecks. We still use our original P# for company business. We still have the same CEO,CFO, President, etc... all working in the same building. I am not trying to get in your face with these observations, I am just offering an explanation of why Brice used "America West Pilots" in his salutation.

Sensibilities such as this will diminish over time as we learn what upsets the other side. Recently I read a retraction/apology from a female journalist who was sorry for calling the West "less experienced" who informed her of her faux pas ? USAPA, pretty minor thing but not unnoticed.

Actually, according to the corporate structure you do still work for America West. Just as the MDA pilots worked for US Airways Services Corporation (dba Midatlantic Airways), the PSA pilots work for PSA airlines, and the PDT pilots work for Piedmont Airlines.

The alpa commercial....

ALPA has to rely on half-truth commercials. The irony is just peachy.

I'm looking forward to the video that features King Kong, the Green Giant, or maybe Godzilla. Oooh, scary movies are so cool and sharks just don't mean much after the movie Jaws made the shark so mundane.
