CWA leadership flew to DCA today to meet with management regaurding the impact of the merger on the membership. Details to follow.

And Rico, there is not always a vote in a merger or buyout for representation. There was no vote in the PSA/US merger nor a vote in the AA/TWA buyout, it just depends on how the merger/buyout happens, the NMB's rules and who has the larger #s.

The big losers would be the employees of America West. A lousy run company and possibly a chance to be represented by the worst union ever.

I didn't rip the employees, just the image of USAirways, the reputation, the ugly color scheme etc. You are all welcome in Phoenix, hope you can handle the 120 degree days, and if you can't, non-rev to SAN along with the rest of Phoenix!

But if you do come out here, bring an NFL team, we have never had a professional football team in Arizona, just the Cardinals. 😀

That used to be the old mentality. However, now that the LCC cat is out of the bag, if the price is right people will come. On top of that, a combined US/HP will pretty much cover the entire U.S., most of the Caribbean, Mexico's hot spots, and the biggest cities in Europe. What other LCC offers that? Nobody. Let's just wait and see...this merger thing has less than a 50-50 chance in my book. Then again, when you work at US Airways its best to keep expectations low.

Name needs to stay US Airways. Believe it or not, they actually like us in the Caribbean and Europe. As for that "Seth" guy; he's gotta get vanquished to the Valley...man.

They like America West in Canada, Mexico and Costa Rica, just don't talk about Japan.



Actually, if they were able to come up with an innovative name, and brand the hell out of it to create a positive customer feeling, it would be great, but that takes money and time and real good PR folk.

Have you ever noticed that all the good airline names are the fictional ones used in movies?

I never much liked AWA's first livery, but what I really hated was that Maryellen Beauvais made all kinds of money for designing it, and for filling our hallways with tons of hideous native american paintings!

Wow, a Beauvais family member on the payroll for doing nothing? Imagine that! 😀
