This is why we will never have a shortage of AMT's in the United States. Corporate America including the Airlines will follow the law guidelines and bring in workers from outside the U.S. to fill shortages where normally would push wages up due to supply and demand. Watch this video and try to tell me it doesn't upset you!

This video shows lawyers telling HR managers how to avoid hiring US workers and still comply with hiring laws. For instance, if the applicant has a question about the salary, this can be used to 'disqualify' the applicant, giving justification to the gambit 'we can't find qualified workers.'
Please view the short video and forward - this is incredible.

This is Corporate America at its best. They are creating the "NO AMERICANS WANT THE JOB" or "WE CAN'T FIND QUALIFIED AMERICANS TO FILL THE JOBS excuseS. All this so they don't have to pay workers a decent wage unless they are in the old boys network of business school alumni.

And these corporate ass-bags get rewarded for actions like these with bonuses and exuberant salaries.

To top it off, unions like the TWU encourage millions of immigrants to come in for these jobs so they can hopefully unionize them and take dues from them.

What a sad time in America.

What makes any of you think that AA would participate in such a sham?

(Sorry - I couldn't resist!)

Please read through the Restraint of Trade thread for a little more info on how this type of dirty pool is right up AMR's alley.

What else could be expected when working people vote Republican? Look at how the Supreme Court is nulifying the rights of working people and broadening the rights of corporations. I'm not saying the Democrats are much better but when people vote Republican it sends a clear message that our priorities are not economic and the rich acn do as they please.

I recently went to China, and what struck me the most was that I did not see or feel what I thought I would being in an Authoritarian regime.I did not see much of a difference as far as freedoms or rights. Just like here most people were more concerned about material gain than political freedom. Just like here the government can take your property and give it to whomever they please, just like here political choices are limited, just like here corruption is rampant. Just like here the government tells you what countries you can go to and how much of your money you can spend there.

In China they use the spector or "Capitalists threatening our Glorious Revolution" to justify restricting rights, in America they use "Defending our way of life from Terrorism".

Bob, let's not over simplify this. Voting conservative did not create all of this countries problems for workers.

More of a concern should be keeping these liberal eco-nuts like Al Gore in check. They are trying to ram this junk science of global warming down everybody's throat. If left unchecked, start looking for more restrictions on personal travel, that will affect everybody. That is unless you're rich like Al Gore and can afford to buy carbon offsets. 😉

That was terrible.

I feel bad for all the average G.I. Joe's & Janes who come from low to middle income families and are risking their lives in the Middle East. This is the treatment they can expect after they leave the military? It's outrageous!

Why fight a war if in the end you get shafted?

Sadly, that's a typical approach for industries which hire programmers for lower level programming languages which aren't widely taught in the US anymore, but are still used for mainframes and other legacy platforms.

It's not something I'd expect to see for skilled or unskilled trades anytime soon, because of the expense involved. Legal fees for a H1B and/or green card can run into five figures.

Conservative? Whats "Conservative" about extending eminent domain to the confiscation of property for private use? Whats Conservative about making up laws as you go and telling workers they cant strike even though the RLA is clear in that workers will not be compelled to work under terms they never agreed to? Whats "Conservative" about reckless Imperialism? Whats "Conservative" about undermining the American way of life by lowering expectations for working people so the rich can get richer? The fact is these Republican are only "Conservative" during the election, once they have hoodwinked the electorate they are something else.

As far as Al Gore and the "junk Science" of Global Warming do you have anything that disputes the trend? I dont trust the media either, but I do think that there is something to this.

Bob, the "Eminent Domain" case that the Supreme court ruled on was decided by the left or liberal judges STEVENS, KENNEDY, SOUTER, GINSBERG AND BREYER.

I am surprised that you, who is well versed in many matters would blame the eminent domain debacle on conservatives.

You missed the point, Republican does not equal Conservative.

There is no "left" with any power in this country, there are only those on the left side of the right.

Not the first time you had to point out this misconception on the part of Mr Owens:

Not only that, but the Court merely upheld the Connecticut laws on eminent domain. A state where Democrats dominate the legislature.

But now, in the post above, the goalposts have been moved. Blame Republicans. Others correct that nonsense (and correctly show that Democrats are to blame). Then comes the "Republican does not equal Conservative" spin.

No wonder you poor guys have been stuck with such a worthless union for all these years. One of the most outspoken "opponents" of the TWU has such continuing difficulty keeping the facts straight and spin like tops when you point out the factual problems in their statements.

Good luck replacing your worthless union.

The reasons why you'll bever see a shortage of AMTs is not because these greedy bastard ferriners will come here from foreign countries - it's because toothless hillbilly scabs like PTO are very numerous in this country of 300 million people. Each year, plenty of them fall prey to the technical schools that promise high salaries in the exciting field of airplane maintenance. Like this one:

http://redstoneaviation.com/&ctk=1&kid=GOG0010072375

advertises often on tv promising "average salaries of about $58k." Far too many kids who have nothing except a yard full of junk cars think that is the holy grail.

The diploma mills do not care where their tuition-payers come from, the hills or the borders.

Likewise, Big Business does not care whether their cheap labor comes from one or the other.

However, the ready supply of cheap labor from Third World countries keeps wages down here. As planned.

PTO has teeth, at least if the picture I saw was him.

Once again we are graced with FWAAs condescending promotion of ignorance.
