Danny Martinez, VP line maintenance, issued the WARN letter on 3/6/06 about upcoming layoffs. He mentioned that RENO is not be the only station affected.

Stay tuned!

That means that layoffs can not begin before 5/6/06. Do we know yet how many WARN letters were issued?

Having received one of those before myself, I know how recipients must feel. Even though I "knew" that layoffs were coming and I would "probably" be included, the letter made it real. Best to anyone who gets one.

These were not the actual warn letters, merely an advisory of a systemwide distribution that is forthcoming. A blanket coverage if you will, for all line stations for legal reasons. 23 million is needed from all class one and class two stations minus whatever the savings of closing RNO turns out to be. There will be a meeting at the end of the month in Dallas with all stations represented attending. There the number crunching begins. People need to come up with cost savings ideas or revenue generating ideas. There will be financial anlysts on hand to evaluate and determine value on the spot. Anyway, shortly thereafter - people should have a pretty good idea of their respective stations future for aircraft maintenance. So, in a nutshell - thats the scoop.
Anything you here about any line stations before this meeting is pure BS... B)

Speaking purely from a FSC prospective, and relying on actual numbers, from "surviving" employees in BDL, I'd offer the following, as a possible outcome.

BDL had a layoff in Jan. That left the most junior FT FSC with an Occ. seniority date of (early) 1987.
They could "knock off" another 15 FT clerks, which would bring them up to the most junior "STATION protected" employee.(15 guys in a station the size of BDL, is a LOT)

Now "extrapolate" this scenario "out" to the rest of the "c" size stations(example..BDL/PHL/BWI/RDU/CLT/TPA/MCO/ATL/MCI/DTW/MSP/DEN/BNA/IAH/SAT/AUS/....just to name a "few")

Oh how WELL I remember CRANDALL saying that they would "consolidate" the FSC workplace into a few places like...DFW/ORD/MIA/SJU....BOS/LGA/JFK/EWR/DCA/STL/LAX/SFO.

(uncle) BOBBY was truly a "PROPHET" !!!

That's probably true for the layoffs in RNO, but as I'm reading the WARN Act language, layoffs of fewer than 50 employees in a given location can take place before that date as long as they're done in accordance with the contract.

The WARN letter for Reno was issued over a month ago. Interestingly enough I thought the WARN letter was to warn employees who would be affected by a layoff, not the entire system.

*********************************************************

This was a PRE WARN letter. The all encompassing WARN letters to follow; systemwide, to cover all scenario possibilities. It doesn't mean that everybody that gets a WARN letter can expect to be displaced. Simply put, it is a CYA for the company for any scenario regarding AMT displacements and bumping etc.. 😉

It said consider this your warning to accept more paycuts or the company and your union will overlook your job security clause and lay you off. 😛 😛 😛

All I asked was a simple question. Have you seen the letter? If not there's really no point in responding.

Interesting approach... issue a WARN letter to everyone, and worry about the details later. Beats the heck out of trying to work out all the details first, and then wait 60 days to actually do something about it.

Has anyone at DFW seen this letter? I asked at the line but no one seemed to know what I was talking about. Someone brought up that we are supposed to have "job protection" with this "contract" we have.
